Has anyone else read this book? My DH and I saw the movie for the first time last week and since then have decided to NEVER eat red meat again and to NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE eat fast food.
I am only in the first chapter of the book and already I think that we as americans are under a spell and it is all due to the fast food industry. I want to know has anyone else read this book and if you have would you like to discuss it with me? My poor little brain has been torn apart and I am only on page 50.

The red meat thing, well for us, we have both seen documenteries on how cows are slaughtered and the way that the director portrayed it in the movie made us both sick. We have never been affected like that before. We actually could not even finish the movie. It was turned off with 10 minutes to go. It made us both feel like we never would eat red meat again. It now is at the point, since I started to read the book and give DH the info I read that we will NEVER eat fast food, even if we really have to. We will go somewhere like Subway or the grocery store for that matter and get somehing ready made. I never thought in a million years that I would feel this way but they(fast food companies) really are evil in every way.

If you have no idea about the book or movie I strongly recomend both. At least see the movie if you don't read the book. The book however is much better then the movie.

Based on what you just said you are thinking of Supersize Me. The documentary about the guy who ate nothing but Mcdonalds for a month. To answer your question yes the fries never brole down. He let them sit in a jar for 1 year and they were still soft and edible a year later.
Fast Food nation is like that but on a much larger scale. The movie came out last year. The book was the year before. It deals with ALL the fast food chains, not just Mcdonalds. Right now in the book they are talking about how because of the fast food industry advertizing, movies and tv are the way they are. It starts with the history of the first fast food resurant and how it changed the face of the planet and how we as humans look at food.

I would love to read the book, thanks for bringing it up. I haven't eaten red meat by my own choice since I was 11 or so. I don't eat pork either, same decision around that same time.

Good thing you didn't watch the last 10 minutes, I thought that was the most disguisting part of the movie. That movie was so gross, and it made me not want fast food for a while, but I still eat it.
