1. I get quite a few American news channels here. The only two I can think of right now are Detroit and Rochester. Anyways I always thought it was amusing that all the news channels I get from the states are called "Action 7 News" or something and sometimes they have a news chopper. How common is it that local news stations have helicopters and are called Action News (or something of the like)? I guess Canadian news isn't as extreme since here it's just called CKCK Regina.

2. This is probably a dumb question but what happens when you get Canadian change? Do you use it or keep/save it? Have you ever got a Canadian loonie or toonie?

3. ...I had a third question but I forgot it now.

I'm watching Action News 5 right now if that answers your question

I rarely ever get any Canadian money (as i've never been there) but my best friends dad is a Canadian citizen who now lives in the US- so sometimes when he goes he'll bring us back coins - i save mine- i think they're neat.

I love American news channels!

I can sort of see how you wouldn't get that much Canadian money since you're further down south but I get it quite a bit (nothing new). I saw a new coin (think it was a quarter) with Washington on it but he had an atrocious hairstyle!

depends on which company owns the station.
we have one here called, Action News, I can go to texas or where ever and
the station there will have the same name, so style graphics as the news station here does.

2. This is probably a dumb question but what happens when you get Canadian change? Do you use it or keep/save it? Have you ever got a Canadian loonie or toonie?--- some of the coins yea, you can use, but not in the vending machines. the paper money nope y ou cant.

lol i still have about 200 dollars in your paper money

the haircut was probably really a wig that he was wearing in the portriate (they used to think they made them look professional
) na and your right we don't get a lot of canadian money down here -only stuff i've ever seen was from my best friends dad. what really cracks me up though is him always saying "eh?" and "bloody" it's funny just because it's soo different

Isn't "Action News" an ABC affiliate thing? It's Action News 6 in Philly.
Don't get other countries news...not that I know of.

The news channels in the U.S. are very BIFF! BAM! POW! The Canadian news is much gentler. I thought all local channels, U.S. and Canada, had helicopters!

You can use American money in most touristy Canadian towns if you don't expect any kind of exchange rate. You can't use Canadian money in the American cities I know, until you get it exchanged for U.S. dollars.

(American in Canada)

U.S. News channels really like their helicopters

And I save my Canadian money. Never know, I might need to race across the border someday!

Over the river and through the woods...
I actually do have a few "loonies" and "toonies" saved from my trip to London, Ontario to visit a friend. I had to keep them because the names are so cute!
I had NO idea what he was talking about at first. It was so funny in the airport when I converted $100 US dollars into canadian. The guy hands me a few colorful bills and a mountain of change...I was SO confused!

As for the action news thing...I do watch Action News 5, but not everything is action down here. If our area had a helicopter, it would go something like:

"ok, Mrs Smith's cow just broke out again...we have a fugitive...send the authorities! Oh, just spotted Jimmy Joe staggering out of the back door again, heading towards the wood pile! Look's like the Miller Lite got the best of him again tonight. It's a madhouse!!"

The channel names and news names are all boring here.
kwtv - for channel 9 cbs
koco - for channel 5 abc
kfor - for channel 4 nbc
kokh - for fox
The first 3 have helicopters, newsvans, and storm chasers.

Canadian change rarely makes it down this far south, when it does most people really don't recognize it. And yes, I have had vending machines here take it.

When I lived in Michigan there was always some Canadian change mixed in. If it were just a couple coins no one seemed to really care and would regularly give it back in change too.

I live in southern MN & I see Canadian coins all the time! My grandma has saved every Canadian coin she's ever come across!
But, that grandma is a bit nuts.

Here... or There... Hmmm
Living in Michigan, I see Canadian Change all the time! We save some and spend some. I do still have $15 in paper bills and a $1 loonie from when we went over to Windsor to the casino in 97. You can't spend the paper money here. In Detroit you can't use any of the change even in most stores!!! Too close to the border!

Hey MOZ! When does Canadian Idol start there?

I still have money from Indonesia (made sure I had one of each...I think it all totals maybe $10.00). And money from Japan, from a long layover. I also have coins from greece, rome, england, but they were from when my dad was in the Navy in the 60's. Probably not worth anything, but they are cool anyway!

I just remembered that when I worked at the bank, Canadian coin always seemed to appear in my desk drawer. We kept spare coin in case someone was short a few cents and they always digged in there to replace the Canadian coins. I usually trash them.

1. Ya we have action news, i was on the news once
but it was the driving news people lol! Its channel 4 action news here, well at least the news channel I watch ( we have 3 local news channels)! And all of the news stations here have helicoptors I do believe from the action cam, to show usually weather reports, traffic reports, or other news things like fires, crashes things like that!

2. I have gotten canadian change, usually I save it I also have gotten change from somewhere else but I cant remember I put it away! But I have passed it off as real change before
I tend to spend a lot of change, i dont like change much! ANd then I go thru a stage where I save it all and then spend it
but ya I have gotten canadian change and such, and either a) saved it or b) spent it!

3. It happens to the best of us

I spend Canadian change..ssshhhhhhhh! no one ever checks!

Um...the Chicago news channels are WGN, Fox Chicago, ABC 7 and NBC...they don't call themselves "Action" but they all do have helicopters which they use to laugh at people stuck in traffic on the Kennedy. Or Stevenson. Or Edens. Or Eisenhower. Or dan Ryan (Especially the Dan Ryan!)

Edit: we name our expressways around here. I-55= the Stevenson, I-90/94 West= the Kennedy, etc.
