I have my very own office at my new job - and I LOVE it! Now, I just have the task of making it 'my own'- I was thinking some nice floral prints on the walls - nothing old lady-ish, but something fun with color. They have some really pretty ones at Target- but then I was thinking some nice black & white prints in frames- but my walls are baby blue
So I don't know how that would go over.... any ideas are welcome, I want to know how you have your office/work space decorated!
(I'll post pics of my office space when I get a minute to take a photo or 2
)

Kenz started her new job!!!!

I have a collection of Dilbert cartoons taped to the wall. Ummm...a dead plant, a picture of my fiance and I and a picture of Luna as a kitten. I need to update though.

Oh and I'm going for that boxed look...actually I've ordered so much computer stuff lately that I look like a storage closet...just need a red stapler....

Heres my present office. To the left of the picture i have framed pictures of signs that we've done. I've taken pictures of the whole place because were moving sometime this year, so this place has a lot of memories. That small window looks through into the works office.

My new reception area is fab!. With me working for a sign company i've asked for a neon strip around the outside of my new desk and that's what i've got

here are some ideas from www.marthastewart.com on decorating a home
office - perhaps you can use some of these ideas to decorate your new one at work

I have a floral arrangment that I did in HS on my desk. It's made with lilac bush stems and the vase is a really cool black and silver with texture. I don't have an 'office' though, just a corner in my classroom! I have pictures out on my filing cabinet and bookshelf. Plus decorations for whatever holiday/season it is. My desk is always covered in paperwork so you can't see it, but I have a really cool funky desk calendar I got at Walmart. It's an academic calendar, but it works for me anyway!

well, my office is a classroom, so it has lots of educational stuff. but other than that, it's filled with cat stuff! i have a desktop cat calendar, a wall cat calendar, a beanie baby cat, 2 stuffed cats, a cat tart burner, a cat tissue holder, a cat knick-knack box, a nesting cat set, a nesting wild cat set, a cat cd holder, a cat timer, a cat kaleidoscope, & several posters & wall decorations that are cat-themed.
needless to say, all of my students know what my favorite animal is!

Awww! That sounds fun!!

I want something nice, soothing and calming- nothing too loud, nothing too 'childish' either. I'm working in a Counseling (therapy) office- so I want something that isn't too stand out-ish either. All the other offices are nice flowers/prints. I can't wait to start making it my own... yay

If you have a calendar that you especially like the pics in it, you can frame the pics...my Step daughter did that and they came out beautiful, and hers happened to be flowers, I never knew they were from a calendar.

And of course you need pics of the boys on your desk

At the moment it isn't decorated at all, we only moved a little under two weeks ago and last week we weren't really in the office (I am in 2 days and my boss 1 day a week).
We also have to wait for them to take out the extra bookcases that don't belong to us and get our new desks etc in.

So (hijacking Kenz's thread) what should we do to our office. It is being painted a very pale lilac (our logo is a dark purple) in the summer and there is a lilac 'fleck' to the carpet.

The sofa is staying but the bookcase is going

and moving on, my boss' corner

and my corner

The colour we are painting is similar to the background colour on the Name Me June skin for TCS but a touch darker... kinda like the box at the bottom where it allows you to change the skin / click on contact us etc

Oh my goodness Helen, thats an AWESOME and cheap idea!! I'm gonna have to look at some calenders now!
I'm going to get a frame that holds 3 photos (4x6s) and put Harley, Bayley & Davidson in them and put on my desk

Lamps. The key to an attractive and productive office space is the use of non-fluorescent lamps -- a floorlamp, a table lamp on a credenza, a glass-shaded banker's lamp on the desk. They make the room feel more welcoming, and they reduce the headaches and eyestrain caused by the "vibration" of fluorescent lights.

I also like to have a small fountain in my office, one of those little tabletop waterfalls... because moving water is such a lovely sound, and it helps smooth over the noise out in the hall so I can think.

I've always used calenders for cheap prints too!

I think Black and White prints would look stunning on baby blue walls. It would look very clean and simple!

I just have a little cubicle. But I have a picture my boys did at the babysiters framed on my desk and a radio/cd player. My pens are in an old casino coin collector from the Mandolay Bay Las Vegas. I am also going to put up more pics of the boys.

Ooh decor! My favorite

Ok lets see... the walls are Glidden's "Mystic Seaport" with the trim done in "Quiet Nest". The first is sort of a muted, but still saturated blue-green... the second is more of a mint green color. (You can go to glidden.com and see the colors) Accents done in "Pacific Rim"... sort of a darker, muted blue. Some nice ivory sheers on the window... they look really nice when the breeze blows in.

For art I have a giant tattoo collage I did a few years ago, a framed print with the meaning of one of my tattoos, a newfie calendar, a few paintings I've done and a framed copy of the page from when I was in Tattoo Magazine.

Standard table type desk... I don't like desks with drawers where the legs are... not enough leg room for me that way
Small bookcase next to me with all my electronic stuff... and the best part of the decor? The two dogs and two cats that are currently serving as my carpet speedbumps

I really like this office because out of all the ones I've been in, this is the first one I really made mine. I had prints and things hung up in my other offices... and that was ok and all... but this time I used my artwork and things like that. Really made all the difference in being a comfortable work space.

With the exception of this chair. Oy... it's about a million years old... it still looks great, but I think the foam is getting a little too flat. Might be time to replace it... it's really not worth reupholstering.

Enjoy your new office!

You think so? I really want to do something like that - something totally sophisticated.

As for lamps- I have one on the top of my desk (I'll have to take a pic of it- but then I do have the flouresent ones in the ceiling, but a lot of the therapists have lamps in their offices, its so nice and calming when I go in there to talk to them.... I want their offices

Thanks for the awesome ideas guys!!
