Here's mine!

Hi

I have an orphan week old kitten (well just under a week) and I am hand rearing it. I bottle feed, toilet it, and wipe its eyes like I was told to by the vet.

It gets fed every four hours, but every two hours it just starts to cry.

Why would it be doing this? Does it want company? Or is there something else that I'm missing?

Please help! I want the little guy to be ok.

Jane
Well, she was more like 2 days old and was a little girl!

And now my baby Portia is a big girl!

i think my realio, trulio 1st post was lost in the great crash of '04... but here's the oldest one i could find - a joke!
Christmas Story for people having a bad day....
When four of Santa's elves got sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones, Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her Mom was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. More stress.

Then when he began to load the sleigh one of the boards cracked, and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys.

So... frustrated, Santa went into the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered that the elves had hidden the liquor, and there was nothing to drink. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider pot, and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and irritable Santa trudged to the door. He opened the door, and there was a little angel with a great big Christmas Tree. The angel said, very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't it a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?"

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

We think that her mum was dumped pregnant or got pregnant in the wild and she was born blind. The vet said she'd never opened her eyelids, her eyes were shriveled and infected. When they went to see her they said she was waving her head from side to side (which she does a little now to listen for things) because she was in great pain. We were her last chance, she was going to get put to sleep because no one else wanted her =(

She got spayed and had her eyes removed in one operation and has been in her new home for 3 days. I was so worried about how i was going to cope, all of the cats i'd previousely had were all sighted (even though later in life we had to deal with illnesses) and i was
out about how to handle her, if she was in pain, making sure she didn't injure herself (yesterday she tried climbing on top of her foam house and it tipped over, thankfully she missed the litter tray). When i first saw her i bawled my eyes out, trying to get used to the two lines of stitches where her eyes were. But amazingly things have been more positive the last day or so.

Cleo LOVES to lick, claw and bite things all in one go. When she goes nuts on the doona all i have to do is lay down, put her on my chest and she goes to sleep. This is the first home and family she's had, so i now feel really proud and in love with her. Sorry for such a long post. It was really nice reading about all of your pets

this was mine this is when we thought Willie was a girl

fighting or playing
three days ago we got a ten week old siamese female kitten. when we brought her in my 2 year old siamese male (who is her brother) was hissing his head off as expected. we let the girl get settled into one room and later that day put her in the carrier to let Neko sniff her and stuff. well he hissed and hissed and eventually just sat there moaning. well yesterday we had Neko and the kitten in the kitchen and let the kitten run around (with water bottle near by) and Neko got in hunting mode with huge pupils and ran up to her and sniffed her. they would chase each other and ocasionly he would go over her and bite her neck. today i let the kitten have the run of the house and they seem to be ok most of the time but i'm not sure if they are playing or fighting, this is how it goes: The kitten will prance over to Neko and start to rub him, then Neko put one of his front legs over her and flips her onto her back and then dives on her. He does not scratch but he bites over and over. she does manage to hold Neko's head and kick him. Neko will pull back and she will stay on her back but reach at his face and slap him gentlybut he will dive on her hard and start biting and kicking her. she kicks two but eventually she starts to meow. I can't tell if she's meowing cause it hurts or cause she just feels like meowing (and she loves to meow.) there's no screaming or hissing but he bites her neck and it seems like he could easily kill her if that's what he wants. Neko's ears are slightly back and his pupils are fully dialated but his fur is flat and there are no wounds or flying fur. we seperate them at night or when we can't watch them. another thing is Neko won't let the kitten rub him or show affection Neko will start beating her up. they do play chase with kitten chasing Neko and vice versa but the neck biting kicking hold down and flipping over on the floor is worrying me.so please tell me if it's play, fighting or dominance hierarchy stuff. Thanks!

Managed to wade back through all the pages and think I have my second "first post".

Did the usual Sunday morning excursion to the store for some necessities - like doughnuts, and came home to read the paper and eat the doughnuts...

Planned to have a quiet day, but then read the obituary of a family friend and neighbor. So Mom had me calling her brothers who knew the fellow (his family's land butted against the back of my grandfather's land and Mom has known his mother since she was a toddler!). We went to the visitation this evening. Was talking and the conversation got to cats and how we humans cater to them and then talked to a younger brother of the deceased and found out he was interested in learning lapidary (gemstone cutting)!

Spent Saturday afternoon at my uncle Roy's. On December 6, 2003 my Aunt Diana died (mom's younger sister) and the siblings got together for a dinner and a sort-of-wake. We did want we do best - eat and talk and tease!

I've heard about the crash, but what happened? Was it tragic to TSCers? How long were you away from TCS for? Tell me, O Wise One!

Here's mine - doesn't look like I've changed much except for the number of cats!

Hello from Malaysia!
Hello All,

I'm new here! I'm owned by 5 Abyssinians, 1 Persian who thinks he's an Aby and 6 Domestics. My cattery is named Masmera (which means RedGold) and my pedigrees are all registered with CFA. I'm a very novice breeder and am sooo thankful I found this forum as I have lots of questions. I make rosettes for a living and this supports my cat addiction!

Special thank you to Captiva whom has already sent me a welcome message!

What a neat idea. On some of these I would like to find out how you resolved it, LOL! Here's mine...

Pregnant Cat Overdue?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all, I am so fortunate to have found this site, especially at this time. I have adopted a pregnant kitty and am trying to figure out her due date! She was a feral I had been feeding for a while, and turned up pregnant. I took her to the vet on March 15, and, after an x-ray, the vet seemed pretty sure that she would be due on March 25. I was thinking "more around April 1", but the vet said that was pretty much on the outside of the range.

So...here it is, almost April 6 and no kittens. She has been eating kitten food since before she got pregnant, and is negative for FIV. (In other words, sleek and healthy.) Also, not showing ANY sign of delivering soon. No milk can be expressed from her nipples. Oh, and I definitely feel babies moving in there!

All in all, if she's showing no signs of distress, babies are moving, she's eating (lots), what would the vet do if I took her in? She seems like a perfectly normal (pregnant) cat. And...she's even getting along quite well with the resident 2 cats, dog, kids and adults! Thanks for reading this long post - just trying to figure out where to go from here -

- Kim

So that's my first post, and less than 6 hours later, Elsa had 8 kittens!

I am so worried, like I said when we got her 2 days later we were at the vet and that was no sleep and I dont want to get stressed out because they can sense it.
There is my first post, right when we got Stormie, I was so worried about her and it did take 2 months to get her back to healthy! ANd since then no nose bleeds
The doc also said it was allergies
but it was a very bad uri which it was a a few weeks before that, it just didnt want to go away
now she is my spunky, very vocal, spoiled, big girl
But that it was lead to me finding this great site
And I have become addicted and since I joined we added on 2 more kitties totaling it at 6 in this household

"Thought I should introduce myself before I start asking too many questions.
My name is Bonnie and my best friend is Sebastian. He is about 10 years old and weighs 13 lbs. I think he is either Siamese/Tabby mix or Tonkinese/Tabby mix. Tough to tell.
We live in a small studio apartment in Portland, Oregon. I am a full-time "mature" student and I work almost full-time. No kids - it's just Sebastian and me My goal is to be an old crazy Cat-Lady!
Will try to attach photos here - hope it works. No, he isn't always cross-eyed, just sometimes. Sorry about the redeye!
Thanks and look forward to talking to you all."

That was my first post

Here we go! We still didn't find the cause but it happens less frequently now.

Nose Bleeds

*waves* hello everyone. I just found this board this evening. I am the owner of 2 older kitties. I am here today cause Molly who is 6 years old just started sneezing blood a few months ago. It isn't everyday. She does have asthma. I already took her to the vet and they gave her allergy meds. There was no obstruction and he says she is too young for tumors. Now it is just a spray & not a river of blood. When should I get nervous if this keeps up? I can tell when it is a bloody sneeze because there are 3-5 sneezes in a row.

Thanks a bunch
Michele
