Official Countdown: One day 'til takeoff, two days to Penny!

Today's update:

Still haven't received the towel with Penny's scent on it, no longer hopeful that it will show up. It would REALLY have helped, but I'll have the vanilla extract ready to go for when I get her home on Friday night.

Had to go back to the endodontist today: Murphy's Law saw fit that I develop an infection on the bone where I had the emergency root canal done on Monday.

I'm in a LOT of pain, working my TAIL off at the office while taking half-doses of percocets to try to manage the pain. (And of course, today is the day clients come out of the woodworek all wanting things done before the long weekend. Looks like I'll be working LATE tonight. )

Have been given a megadose of penicillan, taking another megadose at 4 p.m. today, then getting a prescription for amoxicillan on my way home from work, 500 mg every 6 hours for the next 7 days.

Also been prescribed additional pain meds, so it looks like I won't need an airplane to get to NC, I'll just float on down. Pain or no pain, I'm GOING.

Ginger and Ferris are wonderful, not showing any signs of stress, but yesterday they decided that the new litterbox in my bedroom is for pee ONLY, they left all poops in the kitchen litterbox. I'll count that decision as a blessing.

Now if I can just get through the work day today without having another breakdown - this mouth pain is even worse than the abcess was on Monday. At least the dentist said that it won't need anything but the antibiotics to treat, he said that the root canal looks quite good, no reason for further invasive treatment.

SIGH...it ain't easy being me.

I am so sorry you are not well for your big trip and adoption day. Here's some feel better vibes. I hope the trip is not too stressful on either one of you.

I feel your pain! I really hope that the infection and pain let up before you fly - and that it doesn't spread to ears or sinuses (which are all intertwined)
If the towel comes on the day you leave, can your room-mate (I think you have one) introduce the kids to the new scent?
That being said - I am SO EXCITED for you...it seems like it has ben forever since you first talked about this trip and getting Penny!

Ooooohhhh! Your poor mouth! Hopefully with everything going wrong now, your bad luck quotiant will be used and you'll have an easy transition with Penny.

the vanilla extract worked pretty good for me... they were all sniffing away, but no big fights....

I hope you get to feeling better soon!!!! I'm sure you will feel a lot better when you finally get to hold sweet little penny in your arms and she's yours!!!

Ohhhh....I can relate to your root canal!! I have had 3! I don't think mine were as painful as yours since mine where done on the two front teeth. I hope you feel better soon!
