Do you control your destiny or are you controlled by it? This test assesses your locus of control orientation and your attribution style.

"A locus of control orientation is a belief about whether the outcomes of our actions are contingent on what we do (internal control orientation) or on events outside our personal control (external control orientation)." (Zimbardo, 1985, p. 275)

for me I scored:

Snapshot Report
Success Orientation
69

You have a fairly internal attribution style when it comes to success. Mostly, you interpret your success as a result of your skills, intelligence, nice personality etc. although you might think it takes a bit of luck as well. As a result, you are usually able to accept the credit you deserve. Your self-esteem, motivation and general well-being certainly benefit from this orientation.

Dang it I don't like being a Libra anymore!

Smack in the middle for me!

Score: 50
You have a mixed attribution style when it comes to success. Sometimes you interpret your success as a result of your skills, intelligence, nice personality etc. Other times, you attribute it to external factors, such as luck, ease of task or other people's help. As a consequence, you don't always take the credit you deserve. Your self-esteem, motivation and general well-being would most likely be improved if you realized that you actively influence positive events in your life.

I don't want anyone to think I'm bragging, I'm just really happy with my life and I've been through a lot in the short time I've been alive. I'm 19 and got a

91

on this test. It was a lot of fun and it really made me think about everything I'm am doing right now. By no means am I successful money wise, but that's not how success should be measured. Besides, this test seemed to test self-esteem more than anything.

To elaborate on why I feel so successfull..... I'm really happy with who I am right now and what I am doing with my life. Right now I am just finishing up with my AA degree and I am working towards a Masters so I can get into counseling.

I am a part-time counselor at a juvenile treatment center for juvenile sex offenders and have been there for over a year now. I love the work I do and if it paid a decent living I would stay with this agency.

My life as a child was very different from many people so I've been told. One reason being that my father was a very abusive person emotionally, physcially, neglectfully, every abuse you can think of that was my father. The fact that I've been able to make it through all those things has given me the courage to know that I can make it through anything.
