I just wanted to let everyone know that Pippin is doing great! His incision is healing so well and has lots of energy. He and Simple were playing really rough earlier and it's nice to see him back to his old self.
I've been feeding nutro dry for UT health and wellness wet with some meow mix packets for variety. He tends to get picky if he has to eat the same things all the time and it's nice to see him liking the nutro.
He goes in this week for a urinalysis to see how his crystals are doing and to make sure the infection is gone.
I'm so glad we got the PU surgery done. Despite the expense and the difficult and long recovery, it has really changed his life and mine! I am very glad I didn't wait for him to block over and over. I was so afraid we were going to lose him!
Thanks for all the support and hand holding!
I know that we still have work to do making sure he stays healthy, but I am feeling really optimistic about the future.

Thanks!!!

That's great news! I know you and Pippin have really been through a lot lately! It must be a big relief to see him doing so well.

We were into the vet today for a followup urinalysis for Pippin and he's showing small amounts of bacteria and blood in his urine but NO CRYSTALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The vet didn't think that we should do another round of antibiotics at this stage as he feels that Pippin is doing very well and we should give him a break from that. If I see any changes, I'll bring him back in. I'll be getting a second opinion once his surgeon gets back from vacation.

I just wanted to share the happy news with everyone! The vet says that he's not showing crystals because he's peeing them out, but I think it's in addition to the food change.

What a relief! I will keep monitoring Pippin and get him checked out periodically, but for now we will keep doing what we're doing.
