Actually, whenever I lived anywhere else but DC, I have always had HORRIBLE luck with fast food. American teens just don't care. In all the orders of all the place (before moving to DC), I think probably one order out of 50 was correct.

Since I've moved to DC, in the four years that I've been in this area (and I actually go to fast food places more often, or did until I started dieting).. it's been wrong once. That's Wendy's, Taco Bell, Baja Fresh, McD's, Arby's, Burger King... but the fast food places here are being worked by adult immigrants, and they don't mess up. Ever. Dunno why it's such an issue everywhere else with non-native English speakers because there is *no* problems here. And I'm damned picky when it comes to fast food. Everything is a special order, cept french fries.

The drive thru guy argued with me once when I said a rosterd turkey club with no honey mustard, he said "there is no honey mustard on that sandwich" I said "well last time I got it there was honey mustard on it" He says "Okay Anything else" I said "No" what do I get when I open my order HONEY MUSTARD I think the people who actually make the food should take the order, at least they know what should and shouldn't go in the order

I will admit that my Burger King situation a few months ago may not had been right but after going in once to get the order fixed and having it come out nothing but a slopping mess that I couldnt eat (I attempted to eat half) I threw it on the ground with the wrapper...That was me just being a ***** (something I have to work on)! The fazoli's thing was me being a ***** too, but that was beyond out of line! Maybe Im just spoiled because whenever my sister hooks me up with fast food, the food is great and well presented! Im sure I have bad fast food karma... Polite doesn't work for me, I was always polite and it got me nowhere and being a beast sometimes does (not always)! I need to stop eating fast food anyways (im not suppose to, but can't help myself)!
I leave stuff out all the time too
It's easy to get frustrated because all too often the people you're actually talking to don't give a hoot what's wrong with it.

I think I'm just still crazy about how some of the "customers" treated me last week
But it sure does go both ways. Next time call the health dept... the absent manager from Fazoli's would have either been so mad he fired Hairball McGee or gotten in deep water for not being there to supervise. Or call corporate! They love to hear about that kind of stuff, and you'd be surprised at the results you can really get if you do it right.

I hope your luck turns soon!

Im PICKY..And having worked on the "other side" of the table or window I know things from both point of views. And this is what I think. If you cant follow directions when a person is TELLING YOU what to do...You need a diff job. I worked in restaurants as a waitress and I know how hectic and busy things get behind those doors. But we also had 2 grill cooks, 3 fry sides, 2 expo girls in charge of making sure food went out correctly. 2 prep cooks who could also jump in line if needed. Our managers were also EXTREMLY hands on in the kitchen and with tables. 9 times outta ten if there was something wrong it was a servers fault, forgetting to put in the system no tomatoes or whatever. But I ALWAYS admitted that to my tables and apologized because there was no reason for me to forget that stuff and my tables didnt wanna hear about how busy we were...They had eyes and could see for themselves that we were slammed. In fast food places like McDonalds they have a screen at the drive through where the customer can double check to make sure everything is correct. From that point on its not the drive thru persons fault. They recieve everything wrapped and bagged, its the cooks fault and Id def be walking my butt around and fixing the problem. Or driving if that is the case..lol.. I have gone from being at the end of a VERY BUSY strip of highway going home and if I notice that my food is messed up Im turning around myself or making David do it. These places stress about making the customer happy and "Having things our way." Well if they want things to be our way Im not going home with crappy stuff I dont like Ill take the extra 15 minutes to get what I want so they know they messed up. And if its a continual process of getting messed up stuff I will go as far as emailing corporate or calling a customer service number. I take my food very seriously, I love to eat but I love to eat what I like not what they felt like making me. Im a pain in the butt when I go out to eat because Im so picky but I NEVER eat something I dont like...And if my waitress or window person doesnt like the fact that Im going to get what I want...Well then they will find out what I think about their customer service skills, and so will their manager.

Yeah I should take your advise! I really tend to let my anger and impatience get the best of me! I recently had a situation with Sierra Mist (I got a case of soda that something is god awful wrong with it) they gave me a coupon for Sierra Mist but sadly I will never drink it again (they're going to test the remaining sodas I purchased as soon as I send them in) it was the worst taste I had ever experienced and I almost threw up, and so did my sister! I was really nice about it, maybe thats something I need to work on instead of being an anger psycho...Thats just tempting people to spit in my food lol! I will definitley take things in a calmer manner and contact a higher up next time I come across such an event!

I get this problem A LOT - I'm incredibly picky- and I only order my sandwiches PLAIN- with nothing on them, always. I hate everythign that comes on them, but of course, I get some people that load the stuff on there!

We have to have our orders out in less then 60 seconds, now comeon, tell me that is not a recipe for a mistake. If you're backed up with orders, and have to get them out in less then a minute, well, sometimes you do screw up. I think it's pretty rude to just thrust a bag or a tray at someone and blow them off basically so you can get to the next person, that's just not right. I think you should at least be courtious, not just tell them the total, give them the change and thrust their food at them.
Restaurants like mine seem to have gone downhill in the last 15 years IMO. I've watched mine and others just become machines, not people behind counters. It's sad really. That's why alot of mistakes happen too, because if the owners of the restaurant don't act like they care about the employees, the employees start to feel resentful and act out. I've seen this happen before too. Like I said, it's really sad how bad the fast food industry has become. Have it your way and things like that are just things they say to make you think they care, but lately it seems like most places just care about your money. I know this sounds like a total bummer, but it's just from a fast food workers point of view.
This is not unique to the restaurant business...

I see it in the hospital where I work. (And yes, I mean the nursing staff.)

Makes me very sad.

When you find something so obviously foreign in your food as that large quantity of hair (whether it's an accident or a sick joke), you don't throw the food out -- you save it for EVIDENCE.

You contact the health department and file a complaint, and you contact the home office of the restaurant chain and offer to send them a copy of the complaint. You tell them you were made physically ill by the discovery, tell them their employees laughed at you through the locked door, and you ask them for compensation. And you follow up with the health department to make sure they investigate that restaurant's practices.

That's the only way you can really hope to change things... and the best way to teach those employees a sense of responsibility.

I stopped at McD's one morning on my way to work and ordered a sausage bisquit. Got all the way to work and opened it up to find a bisquit, no sausage!
Fortunately, for them, it was too far and time I couldn't afford to waste to go back. But I always check my order now before I drive away from the window, I don't care if it holds them up or not If they give me the stink eye while I'm checking, then I explain to them WHY I have to do this!

I have problems in a lot of places due to food allergies! I always specify what I don't want and tell them if it's an allergic issue. I find most places usually try their best to accomodate you when they know it's a life or death issue! I tend not to frequent the fast food places for that reason - they seem to think that simply removing the item is good enough! Not if you are allergic! Any contact could be fatal depending on what it was! At least good restaurants make a point of speaking with the chef and telling you whether or not they can accomodate your order! And I've even had the chef come out to speak with me to determine how severe the reaction is (ie. if something is on the food stations even in proximity or if the same utensils are used to serve it, etc)! I've been told many times that I can't have what I ordered as a result! But I'm still here, and will frequent restaurants that take such care!

You have to admit.....sorry to anyone working fast food. But they hire anyone regardless of their education or quality of work.

Now that is not true. I have turned people away because they didn't fit what I thought I expected to be behind my counter. I do admit though that I've made the mistake of hiring some really stupid people, but quickly fixed that. I can't deal with people like that either at my workplace or at another one so I work hard at NOT just hiring anyone off the street.

I know this is a petty complaint but you all know I love wendys a little too much
and I had wendy's tonight for dinner and they gave me barbecue sauce for my chicken nuggets and I can't stand the stuff and I always get honey mustard for my fries and my chicken nuggets. I ate it with barbecue sauce but I don't like it because when I eat it my face feels all icky.

Probably at work :(
Went to Burger King last night because my boyfriend loves the place. I SWEAR EVERYTIME I go there, my food is always wrong!! I always go in to make sure that they get it right, but, alas--it never works, even with me watching!! And complaining does no good.
I should have known, judging by the way the employees were behaving, what my dinner at BK would be like. A super-skinny guy and a larger, rounder guy kept "bumping chests" by the fries, hoping to gain what, I don't know. I ordered onion rings instead of fries and made a point to tell the guy, "I only want them if I can get them freshly made" to which he replies, "I have some down now for another order, they'll be fresh". Fine. So, when my SO receives the tray of food (bless him--he carries the tray) it has fries on there. He patiently waits as they put my onion rings in the fryer. Meanwhile, the rest of our food is getting cold. The worst part of the whole thing is the manager was right there, not giving a &#@*!!

I could go on and on, but the work ethic of people now leaves a lot to be desired! I know how hard it is to hire good people, though. It is a challenge.

I haven't been to BK in a long time, but usually when I go to Jack in the Box or McDonald's (actually been years since I've been there too...) I get my burger wrong
I always ask for NO MAYO because I'm allergic and I make sure to tell them that, but it's still like 75% of the time still has mayo in it
I guess I don't really get too mad at that since it's "fast food" and they're probably all in a hurry. What really makes me mad is Red Robin :x. I hate that place so much
Have to spend so much on a burger but they put mayo on mine every time I went, and they take a REALLY LONG time to bring out food so it sucks to make them take it back. Waaah!

But anyway, I really like burgers, so even that will not stop me from ordering them :x Hehe.
