When I ask for no lettuce or tomatoe I mean no lettuce. I specifically asked for no lettuce or tomatoe on my tendercrisp chicken sandwich and they put lettuce on it.

They just never listen! At least you can pull to lettuce off, I always order with no mayo (yuck!) and if they screw mine up, I have to take it back

I know how you feel. I don't really like mayonaise and say no mayonaise and they cake it on there.
imagine if you were allergic to it and then they'd really be in trouble. btw I really don't go to Burger King, I used to work there and hate it. I live at wendys.

"Have it your way, have it your way..." I guess BK doesn't honor it's own mission statement. But, then again, neither of their competing QSR's seem to honor theirs either. If you want to guarantee something with no lettuce, the best option is to make it yourself. (Doesn't anyone listen to their consumers anymore???)

It really depends on the place and who is working there. I always special order my sandwiches too, and probably 95% of the time it's right. But I have noticed that it's more likely wrong when no one behind the counter speaks a word of English.
(I would think that would be important for taking orders, and reading the screens, but what do I know?)

Ugh! Lee orders cheese and mayo only when he gets a burger. People take that as a signal to put enough mayo for 6 burgers on it!

Hmmm.. it must be your BK. When I go to my BK, I order a whopper, ketchup only and I always get it that way.

Now, Taco Bell is a different story..

I was totally thinking that as I was reading this thread!!
I don't think I have ever gotten a correct order at Taco Bell.... but for some reason, we continue to go there. I don't think that matters where you are at all!

Speaking from the behind the counter point of view, I make them repeat the orders at the window (or at the counter whent hey are done) so we have less mistakes because of this, and honestly, I think that the restaurants are out for the almighty dollar, not the consumer. We have to have our orders out in less then 60 seconds, now comeon, tell me that is not a recipe for a mistake. If you're backed up with orders, and have to get them out in less then a minute, well, sometimes you do screw up. I think it's pretty rude to just thrust a bag or a tray at someone and blow them off basically so you can get to the next person, that's just not right. I think you should at least be courtious, not just tell them the total, give them the change and thrust their food at them.
Restaurants like mine seem to have gone downhill in the last 15 years IMO. I've watched mine and others just become machines, not people behind counters. It's sad really. That's why alot of mistakes happen too, because if the owners of the restaurant don't act like they care about the employees, the employees start to feel resentful and act out. I've seen this happen before too. Like I said, it's really sad how bad the fast food industry has become. Have it your way and things like that are just things they say to make you think they care, but lately it seems like most places just care about your money. I know this sounds like a total bummer, but it's just from a fast food workers point of view.

Funny story! A few months back I ordered a burger with cheese and no onions(I specified this greatly to them)...They gave me onions and no cheese! I was so pissed I went back inside and made them give me a new one...They put it together so sloppy that I couldn't eat it...so I threw it on the ground in the parking lot! Then at McDonalds I ordered french fries (I repeated my order 4 times) and instead got a filet of fish, so I gripped again and they fixed it! Then at Fazoli's I once ordered Alfredo..I started eating it and there was a ton (I mean clumps) of hair in it...I flipped out and spread it all over the parking lot (serves those punk ass kids right)...Now my sister works there and she is the best! I have had so many issues with fast food... It's not freakin rocket science, especially when I repeat my order to you 4 times!

I hate our Burger King here. I get the chicken sandwich with no honey mustard and no tomato and with mayo and they always put honey mustard on it. Once me and my boyfriend went and ordered 2 burgers and 2 poutines with the gravy on the side for one of them. When we got to the window we made sure that they knew the gravy was on the side for the one poutine. We ended up with 2 burgers, 1 poutine, a medium fry, gravy and one of their pies. I don't know how the pie got there. The order was right on the receipt but they totally screwed it up.

If I want a good burger made right, I usually go to Harveys where they make them right in front of you.

we don't eat at BK very often (i worked there for about 6 months...and got food poisoning eating at the same store months after i left). but we DO eat mcdonald's.
DH always gets a plain cheeseburger . it's always interesting to see what they give him. i usually get it with everything, but sometimes it looks like a ketchup bomb went off.

It certainly was NOT the person who had to clean up your mess's fault. I mean, yes, that's really disgusting, but you should have taken it back into the restaurant instead of making a mess for someone who probably never handles food to clean up (the "punk ass" kids you describe).

Having had to clean up after other customer's tantrums, I can tell you the person who had to scrape your food off the parking lot had no idea what you were mad about, and the problem (hair in the food, which probably came to the restaurant that way) never got fixed.

Um yeah they did know why I did it...There were only three people there and my sister was informed about the story (she works there). There was no manager on site that I saw and they were all 16-17 years old (yes all three of them, which Im not sure why I saw no manager since that is illegal)...Besides they had closed/were closing right after my order so there is no way I could have went in (doors locked), they thought it was funny so I showed them funny! You eat a mouthful of hair once (there were at least 50 hairs mixed in there and for no reason, I was a nice customer who some punks decided to prank) and see how you react! Not trying to be mean but you don't know all of the facts, pass judgement if you will but I would do it in a heartbeat again...I vomited in my mouth from it! I use to work in the food industry at a Nursing Home, that is unacceptable behavior and maybe mine was but I got my point across! They were snickering watching me out of the window! So I gave them something to look at!

J's family has terrible, terrible restaurant luck. At one dinner, three of the meals were served cold, and J's sister's meal had a swatch of hair in it (hair that very obviously did not belong to anyone at the table); we complained (politely) and our meals were free, but we're unlikely to go there again. At another restaurant, the server completely messed up several orders (and the funny thing is, my order -- which was the only one that had substitutions -- was the only order they got right); we complained, and got free desserts all around. J's sister also once found a bandaid in her pizza at another well-known restaurant and refuses to eat there (much to my sadness, since I love the food there!); she gave her "free entree" coupons to friends. J also had pizza delivered to him once with a whole slice missing!

J and I went to one restaurant with a bunch of friends; we all placed our orders and waited ... and waited ... and waited ... About an hour later, our food arrived (and this was not a busy restaurant), but one friend's meal didn't arrive at the same time. (J's order was also screwed up: he had requested some kind of seafood and got tofu.) Finally, my friend asked the server where her dinner was, and the waitress replied "Oh, we aren't serving that tonight." Information my friend could have used an hour ago when she placed her order!

I have found, in pretty much every single case, that the best way to deal with mistakes is to politely inform your server (or the counter-person) and request the mistake be fixed. In the case of things like hair, bandaids and missing pizza slices, I find that most restaurants bend over backwards trying to resolve the situation -- no business wants word getting out about something like that! (I, personally, have excellent restaurant karma, but I have a lot of experience in watching my friends and family deal with server mistakes and food gross-outs.)

Sorry, your original story doesn't sound like they did anything on purpose. People do act like that sometimes totally unprovoked. I probably would have done the same thing as you if I had seen them watching out the window.

Did the people at McDonald's do it on purpose too?

Yeah I left it out so my post wouldn't be too long (Sometimes I leave stuff out not realizing other people weren't there to witness what I am talking about)! I have anger issues, and knowing that they got pleasure out of it set off the demon inside of me (this was 6 years ago)! I will admit that my Burger King situation a few months ago may not had been right but after going in once to get the order fixed and having it come out nothing but a slopping mess that I couldnt eat (I attempted to eat half) I threw it on the ground with the wrapper...That was me just being a ***** (something I have to work on)! The fazoli's thing was me being a ***** too, but that was beyond out of line! Maybe Im just spoiled because whenever my sister hooks me up with fast food, the food is great and well presented! Im sure I have bad fast food karma... Polite doesn't work for me, I was always polite and it got me nowhere and being a beast sometimes does (not always)! I need to stop eating fast food anyways (im not suppose to, but can't help myself)!
