I am working on my template for cover letters (which I will change if needed for each particular job). I am applying to general office work (reception, data entry, administrative assistant... )

One concern I have is that I haven't found way to mention my most recent job... which is working a few hours at the history lab at school... doing research and converting interviews from digital tape to DVD, organizing them, etc.

So here's what I have so far:

M. NAME?

With reference to the above advertised position, the attached resume is submitted for your evaluation.

Through my previous work experience, I have demonstrated myself to be hardworking, reliable with an excellent work ethic, and work with very little supervision. In addition, my work as an administrative assistant has allowed me to develop good knowledge of office work, including data entry, filing, reception and handling of incoming and outgoing mail. As a technocultural agent, I have had the opportunity to take responsibility for all aspects of the development of a traveling exhibit, including research, design and public relation.

Together, I believe that these assets, as well as my strong desire to work, would make me an excellent candidate for a position as a JOB TITLE.

If you wish to meet me for a personal interview, you can contact me at my home phone number indicated above.
\tThank you in advance for your generous consideration.

Yours truly,

It sounds really good to me. I honestly think it is fine to leave out your current job in the cover letter as long as you go over it in your resume very well.

Seems good to me. I have changed the middle section to:

I am hardworking, reliable, have an excellent work ethic, and I work well with very little supervision. Most recently I have assisted in a university (?) history lab, where I was responsible for research, including converting interviews from digital tape to DVD, then organizing and cataloguing the research appropriately.
