Hi all. We just brought home our new addition that we adopted from a local ACO shelter. She was spayed early this morning. It's been 10 yrs since I have had a kitty that was just spayed. She is a bit out of it and doesn't have her "sea legs" yet. I know I am to keep her quiet for tonight, but is there anything else I should do? I left her in the carry crate I brought her home in and left the door open for her. She is in the bathroom so she doesn't have far to go for the kitty litter. I also put a blanket down in there for her. I feel bad because she has been to the vets, now she is in a strange new home. Any suggestions?

Dim the lighting in the room she is, play some low classical music and just let her sleep. She should be fine tomorrow or the next day. If you have a stuffed animal you can stick in with her that will help as well.

Thank you for your replies and suggestions. Yes, I did get instructions from the Vet. I was just concerned for her because of the full day she had, surgery, then a new home. We have her in a "safe zone" upstairs away from our pups. She had access to a nice big open hallway and a big bathroom last night. She is feeling much better this AM. A bit nervous, but that is to be expected in a new environment. I opened up one bedroom for her this morning.

I slept downstairs with Suki for days after her dental operation, I got no sleep, but it was worth it

Thank you BuNN. I know what you mean. I have done that with my pups when they were not feeling well and with my two Himi's when their time was getting close. I agree, it is time well spent.

Mysti is improving wonderfully. She has started exploring the whole house (the pups are out in their kennel). She has gone into both of the pups crates so she knows there are "others" in the house LOL. She found the warm spot, the fireplace (propane fired) and layed there for about 15 minutes, then had enough and back upstairs to bed. Putman followed her everywhere just to make sure she was okay. I think he is IN LOVE! She has taken in a bit of water (watching that closely), but has not shown any interest in food yet. I am keeping a watchful eye on her.

my babies are coming home from the Vet today - all fixed (not that they were broken - but you know what I mean).

I hope they are not mad at me

I'm waiting also MtnBikerChk! Nakita is being spayed and will be coming home tomorrow!

This is the first time she's staying somewhere else for the night.

I'm going to visit the vets tonight and see how she is after the surgery.

Sending healing vibes to all the surgery kitties!

I couldn't go last night - I didn't want to have to leave them.

Tick tock - 1.5 hrs!
