Ok. The one thing I've been guarding against has happened!

I have a splint that I have to wear when I sleep because I grind my teeth at night. It's like a mouthguard, really, that has been moulded to fit my mouth and my teeth. It's a bit uncomfortable at first but you get used to it - and waking up each morning WITHOUT a blinding headache makes it worth it!

Anyway, I usually brush it the next morning with toothpaste when I'm brushing my teeth, and then I put it back in it's case and leave it by the bed. Early this morning someone came to the door from the Salvation Army, and woke us, so I just pulled it out and left it on the bedside table in its case, but I left the case open and dashed off to answer the door.

Just then I was in the kitchen and I heard a `clunk' on the loungeroom floor, and I looked down and Chester had just spat it out!!

Ohhhhhh gross gross gross. They're expensive so I can't throw it away, and he didn't do anything to it, but I can tell you it's gonna get scrubbed and left in a glass of mouthwash for the next 12 hours!!

Ohhh gross! I have pretty much the same thing as you but it's an Essix retainer. I usually just leave them on my nightstand because no one ever goes in my room, but I might rethink that.
I wouldn't want my dog to get a hold of them or else they'll taste like dog butt.

Over the river and through the woods...
I use them too, but I get the ones from the pharmacy that cost around $30. Mine isn't custom fit (my teeth grinding doesn't both me...just my hubby!) The first one became a cat toy. The second one, the became a dog toy. The third DH accidently put through the washer and dryer, and became a rubber ball!

Yeah, definitely lots of mouthwash and anticeptic! After all, they do lick their own butts!

I didn't care about my grinding enough either, until a dentist appointment a couple of weeks ago when she showed me in a mirror how much I was wrecking my teeth. One of the front ones has been ground down so much that it's on a level with the one next to it - and they're totally different types of teeth!! Also, it keeps Max awake at night something chronic and drives him nuts!

That is the sort of thing he would do, actually, he's such a little lamb.

For years I had a dull headache 24/7. My doctor did all kinds of tests including a CT of my head and my adrenal glands to look for tumors. It was my dentist who found the problem. I went for a cleaning and routine checkup and my dentist started asking me the most bizzar questions such as if I woke up with a headache, if my jaw hurt, did I wake up for no reason etc. I asked him if he had a camera into my bedroom and he did as yours did: pointed out that my eye teeth were flat and that I grind my teeth.

I took a mould of my upper teeth and had a mouth guard made for me. I actually bit through the first one and broke it in half and had to have a second one made within a few months. I've had this one for about 4 years now I guess. It's made out of a softer type of hard plastic, that is less brittle than the one before.

From the very first night that I wore it I noticed a huge difference. I no longer had headaches and my jaw wasn't tight and tense.

Yuh
It's not like that's never been a danger before! I mean, I kiss him right on the nose, so I guess I shouldn't be hypocritical!

I had the same thing happen to me.....It was sick. I had a temporary, basically mouth piece you wear in football, for my teeth. It was a hard rubber and moved my teeth at night for about 3 months after I got my braces off. I had three weeks left of wearing it and our dog was making a chew toy out of it! Disgusting! She even chewed a bit off of the ends! My mom put it in boiling water and then alcohol rub. It tasted like that alcohol rub for the next three weeks but the funniest part was taking it back to my check up.....
