Just to throw in a hopeful note in here for you...

*Cats can go missing for several days, even a week or two...before they wander home themselves.
*Chances are...she's not far. It's very likely she's remained somewhat in her "territory."
*The best way to search for her will be at night. Leave out her favorite (and stinkiest) wet food in a bowl on your steps outside your front door, and watch and wait. When cats get out, they tend to like to hide under porches, or in areas where they can't be seen easily during the day...

Good luck, and don't lose hope just yet. She may just come home to you yet!

Well for most indoor cats I would say this to be very true but Jasper was an indoor/outdoor cat. She is familiar with the outdoors. She mostly stuck to the deck and the yard. She would wonder over to the neighbors tree to play with the squirrels or play in the brush around the tree but she was always with in calling distance. Even when she went out she was never out for more than an hour or so.

I have woken up several times very early at 3am and 4am because I was worried about her and could not get back to sleep. I went outside looking for her and calling to her.

I still have some hope she will find her way home.

oh darl, I can so understand exactly what your going through right now. My Cedar disappeared for 4 days over the new year period. I was beside myself with worry... but I got some great advise from this site so I will try and pass some on to you. You may have tried all or some of these things but best to mention them incase you havent

going out in the middle of the night when everything is dead quiet is a good idea and I see that you have done this. Its good to just go sit there and call softly to Jasper and then listen, listen with all your heart (it was this that allowed me to find Cedar who was stuck under the neighbours house... he has the quietest of quiet meows so I was really lucky to hear him).

Putting wet food out is a good idea but another suggestion given to me was to throw used kitty litter around the house so that the wind picks up the smell from all directions. Best if you still had some of Jaspers used litter but I think using any from your bunch will help.

Look in every single place that you can, even if you dont think Jasper could get in there... cats can squeeze into the tightest of places, the smallest of places. You need to think like a cat.

have you knocked on the neighbours doors and asked to check their garages and properties?

Believe in your heart that Jasper is okay... honestly believe it, never ever give up hope. I will be here as much as I can to help you through this time. I know only too well how heavy your heart must be feeling right now.
I will try and think of some more suggestions for you

There is no news. It has been a week today. I am still holding hope. I know cats can be gone for very long periods of time and return later. I just keep thinking I am going to open the back door and there she will be waiting to be let in.

I go out several times a day just to call her and to take a look around the back yard and the neighbors back yard.

I would put out food but most of my other cats go outside as well and they would just eat it. My cats are all in doors at night but there are also several other cats in the neighborhood that come through our lawn and the neighbors lawn all the time so they would eat it. I think the neighbor across the street has four or five cats.

We also get a wayword racoon and a ground hog that come in our yard so putting out super smelly food will only attract them even if I keep all my cats in.

I don't have any of her litter left that was all tossed days ago. With eight cats I scoop and change the litter very often.

I am keeping up hope. I keep having dreams about her so maybe they are telling me she is still alive and to keep hope up.

Thank you all for all your vibes and prayers.

No I am sorry. I wish we both had better news.

I have not given up yet.

My BF thinks that someone might have picked her up. He is sure if she gets a chance to get out she will come home as long as she was not moved to far away.

I keep my hopes up but I still get upset everytime I let myself really think about her sweet little face.

I hope we both get good news real soon.

I hope Jasper comes home soon, but I think it would be best to keep your cats inside. Most cats that get lost, their owners say that they never strayed from the yard, etc. But cats do, and this is a great example. The outdoors is a very scary, dangerous place for a small cat, and they are much safer indoors.

I am praying for ALL of your kitties. My 2 stay inside all the time. I'd be worried sick if they ever got out. As they have never even been out, they hate it.
****hugs and prayers sent***

I knew and know the risks.

I am sure you did not mean to come off so negative but please don't make this a debate in this thread. You can start another thread if you wish or breath air into an old one. There are plenty of them on here.

Thanks to the rest of you for all the good vibes. We have still not found her and have gotten no news.

My BF wanted to get a color pic of her as his friend that lives down the street from us has spotted a cat but his wife said it has white on her and Jasper had no white on her at all. I am going to print one out anyway and give it to them.

At least I know that people are still looking out for her.
