My name's Melissa, I'm 24, and I'm married to the most awesome guy in the world. We have four of the sweetest kitties in the world. I work in retail usually, but am currently on disability. My husband is a computer engineer.
And also randomly: I don't get how we got from Jesus being crucified on the cross to a giant rabbit hiding colored eggs. (Sorry South Park is on in the background.)
But now on to what you guys really want to see: the kittahs! I'll try not to put too many pictures.
This is Lady. She's about 2 or 3 years old. I rescued her and her brother Remington from a home that was overcrowded with animals and they were being neglected. Unfortunately we ended up with too many animals at my parents home (they had 12 at one point) and we had to get rid of some of them. Luckily my good friend Mike agreed to take her. Then we ended up dating and got married, so I got to keep my Lady. She's extremely quiet and hardly ever meows. Even when she's in heat she just coos every now and then. (Yes I know we need to have her fixed, we're saving the money for it for her and another cat.)
This is my baby. Her name is Angel, and we got her from a woman who found her in a box on the side of the road. She was fed through a bottle because she was so young. My husband got her for me when I was very sick at the end of 2005/beginning of 2006. I was home bound for 4 months when we got her so she got spoiled horribly. She loves being cuddled, having her belly rubbed, and any attention she can get. Right now she's halfway under my laptop so she can be on my lap. She's about 2 years old now, but I'll always consider her my baby kitten.
This is Millennium Bug, better known as Milly. She was in a feral colony in a parking lot, and was the only one that would come near me. I ended up bringing her home. She had a horrible attitude. She was just plain out MEAN. Then there was a small accident and she ended up in dryer for a few minutes while it was running. She became a lot calmer and nicer afterwards. Then after moving with me to my new house she changed even more. We still consider her the Anti Christ though. Her favorite thing to do is sit on your lap and bite you if you try to touch her or move her. She adores my husband, and will sit on his shoulders and curl around his neck and let him walk around the house with her there. She's unfortunately declawed . . . my mother made that decision and said it was either that or we had to get rid of her.
This is our newest addition to our family. Her name is Mia and she's about 6 months old. We adopted her from the local shelter. She's a sweet heart who loves to talk to us. Her paws are huge and she's already grown quite a bit since we got her three weeks ago, so I'm pretty sure we're going to have a cat we can ride on when she's full grown. She came from a home where she was abused, so loud noises and raising your voice at her scares her. She adapted to the new home and her sisters very well. Angel and she act like they grew up together.
This is Aeon, my husband's cat that he had for 16 years. She unfortunately went into renal failure about 4 months ago. When we took her to the vet they told us they didn't expect her to make it through the night. But being the stubborn hateful thing she was she lived much longer, until she reached the final stages of failure. We had her put down on April 9th, and buried her in the middle of the garden/sitting area in our back yard. This cat hated everyone in the world. My first experience with her was her jumping off a shelf and attacking me. She used to trap my husband's old girlfriends in the bathroom. She hated me until the last 3 months of her life, and then she finally accepted me. I promised her before she passed that I would take care of Mike for her. Two weeks later we went to the animal shelter and donated her left over special food, and found Mia. We decided to honor Aeon's memory by saving another cat and giving her a good life.
And here's a few random cute pictures:
Angel loves to give her sissies kisses.
Lady's the only cat I've ever seen that will sleep in a cat bed.
I feel horrible for this picture. They were both in heat at the same time. It was the cutest thing in the world. Hopefully we'll be getting them fixed in the next few weeks. A new place is opening near my house where it's much cheaper than the vet.
Angel checking out the litter box, aka The Death Star. It's a Litter Robot by the way and I could suggest it to anyone.
Mia does not like the printer at all. We've had quite a few paper jams because of her.
Angel and Mia again, taking a nap on the bed.
Aaanndd last picture. Angel playing pinball. She'll jump up on it while we're playing and try to chase the ball.
I know that was an insane amount of pictures so sorry for your bandwidth. It's nice to meet you all!
