I'm sitting at my home computer desk and Ferris is on the floor by my side asking for my attention. I turn to him, give him a scritch, turn away. Rinse, repeat.
He stands up and puts his front paws on my chair seat. Teensie-weensie "brrrrr" noises coming from him. He gets a quick scritch, I turn away. Rinse, repeat.
I'm stubborn, you know. This boy needs to know he can come to me and get love in return (and food, of course.
)
I'm not just the bringer of bad stuff like: vet visits, drive-by attempted nail clippings, the wielder of big scary paper towels when he's just
his dinner all over the rug, etc.
He climbs on a box near the desk and again stands up on his his hind feet, front paws on my desk, looking pleadingly at me. I reach over and pick him up under the front legs (my GOSH he's heavy!) laying him on my lap - he is facing away from me and limply settles onto my legs and I pet him and love him and cherish this moment - starting to type this moment into a post while I pet him so I can share this moment with those who UNDERSTAND.
Several seconds later...
Awww...He gets down...but stays sniffing around my ankles. Then he runs off into my bedroom and starts tearing up a plastic bag I've left on the floor. I'd better go get it from him.
But still...that was a momentous 60 second exchange of affection with my semi-feral lovebug. I am SO proud of him.
You've come such a long way, my baby.
