How do you stay focused when your cat is sick?

For those of you that have been following Jordan's constipation issues. The last couple of days he has gone back to not wanting to eat his dry food in the morning and last night he threw up foamy bile. I know it was only once and cats throw up, but I can't help but worry about him. I'm doing my best to try to stay focused at work, but I'm not having much luck. Anyone know of a good way to stop thinking about him?

It's really hard! I can take off work for vet visits but I can't just stay home for several days. The thing that helps me the most is reading about or looking at other cats on TCS.

When Trout was sick I would stare sometimes as my screen just thinking about her..then would burst into tears...

Its very hard to think about anything else

That is exactly what keeps happening. I just keep thinking what if it's cancer? What if I loose him, I can't imagine life without him.

The what ifs are what kills ya..you have to try and think positive..I really think positive self talk works!! Just keeping telling yourself it ISN'T cancer...because it ISN'T!!!

My vet actually said to me "if Trout doesn't improve, you'll have to make a decision"....
So for the WHOLE next day I was waiting for his phone call telling me if she has improved or not...OMG, I can't even begin to explain how scared I was..just waiting...

Yeah. I stay on here as much as possible. But if I can I stay home with the girls. Cuddles are always good.

I really do hope I'm worring for nothing, but it's not like any of my cats to refuse a meal. I'm trying to stay calm and keep an eye on him for a couple days before I call the vet. He's heard from me every week since Jordan was last there. I wouldn't even worry about cancer if it wasn't for him saying it's a possibility. I just don't know how long to wait before calling him again. He will eat wet food, but now he's back to being picky about his dry food. I don't know if it's just being picky or if he isn't feeling good.

EDIT -- I have to add that it was nice of him to wait until after my exams were over to start being picky again.

It's impossible. Don't even try. When little Smudge was so fragile when we first got her, I was a mess at work. I came home each day wondering if she'd be alive still. I did what I absolutely had to at work, and the rest of the time just worried about her.

If it's something serious, I take work off. There's no way I'd be able to get anything done if one of my kitties was sick with a serious illness. But if it's just a little kitty cold then I don't worry much. They have been through worse I'm sure they'll make it through.

So I didn't get home until 8 PM last night & someone what thrown up on the floor. Not sure who, but it did have some hair in it. Jordan ate OK last not, but not with his usual vigor. Then this moring he was running around playing like a crazy man????? He ate all but like 5 or 6 pieces of his dry food. I have no idea what goes on in that sweet, wonderful, crazy head of his. I love my crazy man!!!!!
