I do the horrible thing where I leave them open face-down, a great way to break the binding
Specially when you stack them all up on top of each other.

My manager and I were just talking about this. You'd be astounded at the numbers of bookmarks we sell. It's ridiculous. And we were just wondering who buys them!

I used to fold pages and use scraps of paper but i kept losing them and i didnt like wrecking some of my good books. Now i have a cute bookmark the top is square rubber with a cottage and chequered pattern cut out into it and the marking part is made of plastic and is a swirling pattern which slide on both side of the page. Id take a pic but ive put everything away! it's from a company called ME ink

With my Nora Roberts books I had always bought a bookmark specifically for that book. So those books have their own bookmark. My other books I fold the corners because they are the ones that I always end up taking to used books stores to trade in for new books...Its a nice system I worked out...

I use whatever paper there is available. Receipts, post-its, old desk calander papers, you name it. Currently my bookmarker is my receipt from the library, but I have used other receipts as well. I hate seeing books I get from the library that have folded or obvious unfolded corners on like every other page, so I don't do it!

With the usual mystery/suspense novels I read, I dog-ear the pages. But the books I treasure (usually the horse racing books and dog training/behaviour books) I stick something between the pages to save my spot. I don't use anything fancy, it's when I'm about ready to close the book when I realize I don't have a bookmark, lol. So I grab a receipt or candy wrapper or something and stick it in the book, lol

I just remember what page I left off at. I had a bad habit of losing bookmarks and I can't stand folded down corners, so it was just easier for me to remember the page.

you can tell my favorite books in my personal library, & how often i've read them, because almost every page has a dog-ear fold!
