just finished watching this. For once i have no idea what the movie was supposed to be about, Outside of some guy who was upset with his wife looking for sex, and getting in trouble.

am i missing something here?

i dont think so. cause i neve got it. and i thought it was a bad film.

Bad movie. You would think for people who were married in real life, there would have been more chemistry

Nope. You aren't missing a thing. The whole point of the movie was to have Tom Cruise and his then wife Nicole Kidman make a movie together and to show off her naked body.

Really dumb movie.

I didn't get it either. I hated the movie.

well I suspect The Cruises were on some sort of weird self-exploration

Eyes Wide Shut was a perfect title for that film because I think everyone was doing that when they were making it. The whole thing was a) uhhh WHAT??? and b) uhhh CARE FACTOR!!!!

It was the worst movie I saw in a long, long time.... such a shame from Kubric because the man's a genius.

No point to it - I had the same thing when I got to the end - What the hell was that about?

It was, no doubt, one of the dumbest movies ever. I think Kubrick was sick and dying during the filming and it turned into the Tom Cruise show. I always thought better of Nicole Kidman, but she did have that 9 or 10 yr lapse in judgement. It was, by far, the most boring "sex" movie I have ever seen.

It's aggravating that it's Kubrick's last movie, but IIRC a lot of things were changed or edited to make the Cruises (particularly Tom) happy and to reduce the rating (which was still Restricted, I think, but could have been NC-17 ... I was old enough to see it in theatres regardless). It's definitely the most boring movie about sex I've ever seen, and I'm something of a connoisseur.

I thing I was the only person in the world who liked that movie, but then again I saw the version that was released in Europe in a film class.

It's full of imagery that makes little sense unless you research the things around it, so I can see why people don't like it.

I saw that movie when it was in theaters, but I don't remember anything memorable about it. I like Stanley Kubrick, but that movie wasn't really good. Then again, it had Tom Cruise in it, so what do you expect?

The only thing I took away from that movie was a deep and abiding hatred for Nicole Kidman. If her character was supposed to be vapid, cruel, and soulless, then by golly, she did a great job!

And I agree... there was not one single scene that struck me as sexy in the least. Blecch.

I've seen it and it looked woefully unfinished, perhaps due to the death of a truely great director
