How many sets/types does a kitten get?

Soon, I will be getting a kitten. She has had her first set of shots. How many more will she get?

Mine both had their initial shots at 8 weeks, a booster (and worming) at 12 weeks, and the next set of vaccinations come 1 year later. After that, discuss with your vet how often vaccinations should be done - many vets are moving towards recommending vaccinations every 2-3 years after that, rather than annually.

But basically 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and then 1 year after that, then on a schedule decided between you and your vet.

Thanks for the responding... Everyone I talk to says something different; thus it's difficult to know what is the best. I am hoping the vet I would chose when opt for less visits (such as the number you said). Less vet visits= less money.

I've also heard 8, 12, 14, and 16 weeks and then annually.

I actually haven't gotten a kitten yet. Hopefully that'll be happening in mid-June. I just wanna do as research as a can.

Here in Nevada we do 8 (booster), 12 (booster) and 16 weeks (booster and rabies)

I think it depends on where you live, here in Oz it's 2 shots then 1 year as well.

But in Canada it's a set of 3.

To get an exact answer, you can phone your local vet and they can tell you the vaccination schedule applicable at that practice - it does vary, it would appear, from place to place.

Over here, it's recommended 8, 12 and annual boosters.

My show cats are 8, 12, 16 and rabies (they travel - it's a requirement for most cats travelling to other countries) and the annual booster.

If your cats are completely 100% indoor, after the first annual booster you can change it to every two years ...or so my vet says
