I must not have rinse the sponge out well enough before cleaning my mug. My coffee now tastes like charcoal. we grilled a lot last week and I always have this habit of cleaning the pans and grill stuff first before I clean the mug.

Unfortunately too my mugs are hand wash only. So now I have charcoal tasting coffee

I hate when that happens. It reminds me of an onion flavored blueberry muffin I had once.
The tupperware held the onion smell and it permeated the muffin. Yuck.

Where whiskers abound.
This thread reminds me when we were out to eat once and there was lipstick on the cup when served. I lost my appetite. So gross. They probably just wiped the cup and did not wash it. On another note, do you know how many resturant employees wash their hands after using the bathroom?

Yea I plan on hitting a coffee shop at lunch. I kept trying to drink it and gave up half way through. I may just buy a separate sponge.

Ewww...onion blueberry muffins?

Lipstick on coffee mug? YUCK!

Actually I use to have a boss that NEVER washed her mugs. They were always caked with lipstick and it was just GROSS.

Since I don't like coffee, I think it can only improve the taste!

I'm not a coffee drinker either, maybe it would help!

Ewww - try some baking soda (thick paste) to clean it out - maybe let the baking soda sit in the cup for an hour - then rewash it.

We don't use sponges (you can't sanitize them) - we use dishcloths for doing dishes.

Sure you can! Stick the sponge in the microwave for a minute: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0423120145.htm

Or you can run them through the dishwasher with dry cycle.

I'll definitely try the baking soda solution too. I keep forgetting all the wonderful uses of baking soda.
