I was able to bring my baby home yesterday afternoon after her exploratory surgery that was done on Thursday morning. It was done in her stomach and they used staples to keep the cut closed since it is an area that tends to pull a lot. Well, I've never seen anyone or anything with staples before, so I don't know what's normal and what's not normal afterward. It looks like there's just a tiny bit of fresh blood around the outside of some of the staples, and there's a spot inside her stomach that looks almost like a big, red bruise. I have no idea if this is cause for concern or if it's just normal, so I thought I'd ask opinions on here before I completely freak out! Thanks!

A small amout of blood is some what normal...just keep an eye on it and if it starts bleeding worse,ie oozing,,call your vet. I'm not sure about the spot inside her stomach?

You might want to talk to your vet about getting an E-collar for your kitty. The staples and incision will start to itch, and she may try to bite at and pull on the staples. An E-collar will help prevent her from pulling out the staples. I've really never heard of using staples to close an abdominal incision on a cat before. I guess anything is possible though!
