Since yesterday Molly has been excessively cleaning her hind paw where the pad is. I can't find anything stuck, bloody or swollen. Any ideas what I should look for or what I can do? The vet is closed and none are open tomorrow. Any advice would be appreciated.

Does she let you touch/handle it? If so then it's probably not tender. Maybe she stepped into something and is trying to get the odor off. Something unnoticeable to humans

How thoroughly have you checked between her pads? Is it possible there's some tiny kitty litter particles hiding in there?

If she's still sore, I'd get her to the vet as soon as they are open.

I ended up giving her an antihistamine last night. She has it for her asthma/bloody sneezing. I can touch her pad. It's hard to tell cause she hates me touching her toes. I just love her toes. Well I just tried to touch both hind legs and she reacted the sameway to each foot (pulls away). She is walking fine & DH hasn't seen her lick it at all today. I just have no idea what was going on yesterday. I will keep an eye on it today. It stinks because we haven't been home much the last two days and now we have to go out for Mother's Day.
