But this game can keep them occupied for like an hour before they get bored.
Benson loved this game as a kitten. Unfortunately it also turned him on to biting boxes which makes it difficult when moving.

Milk rings are very popular with my kitties.
Rolled up tiny pieces of paper.
DA BIRD is the best thing ever!!!!

Oh - and a box filled with tissue paper or packing paper for them to rummage around in, rip at and shred is akin to heaven.

I think for cats, boxes are the gateway to heaven. They must be inspected, guarded and lived in for some time!

Kat-Kat really loves supermarket carrier bags, the cheaper the better

He'll play with them and sleep on them, got to be careful if I'm playing though as he will get carried away and go into full 'kill' mode (luckily I haven't lost too much blood when he catches me
)

Recently he's been playing with/on/under a sheet of brown wrapping paper about 3ft square.

Seems to like the sounds it makes, particularly when I scratch at it with one of the wand/string toys

He'll also 'attack' the area rug and crawl under it or slide around the edges laying on his side

 He's got a squeaky mouse on a wand and several little catnip 'mice'  that turn up all over the house

He does prefer me to play with him though.

The other night he 'attacked' mouse on a string, never seen full grown cat do a forward roll before, over onto shoulder and rolled onto back holding onto it

He does like to slide around on his back, pushing off me, walls, carpet or whatever (even does it outside on lawn or path, must be part Otter?
)

I've had Gatsby for less than a week, and it seems that he's already becoming bored with all of his toys. He has the donut with the ball, a ton of balls with bells, a large ribbon ball, mice, and a stand with a spring ball attached.

I'm trying to figure out what the best thing for him is. I want him to stay entertained!
While I realize this post is 5 years old, since the thread has been revived I want to address this post. It doesn't matter how many toys a cat has, if the human doesn't play with him. Cats need interactive play with their humans to not only keep them physically fit, but to keep their brains stimulated.

The more you ('you' used in general terms) play with your cat, the more your cat will play on his or her own.

My cats get several interactive Game sessions a day. Some of them are rather short, like the morning play time, it's only a few minutes. But when I play with them, even just a little, they go on to play with one another, or on their own, for a good half hour afterward.

Their longest session is when I get home for good in the evening. :)

Even a simple ball toy - one of my American Curls loved to play fetch :)  Joshua would bring his ball back to me, drop it at my feet, and wait for me to toss or roll it off again for him.

This thread needed reviving
Silly has re-discovered the joys of water-jug rings and Sugar is right now playing with one of her furry mice.  To Sugar and Spice, most anything is a play-toy.

All good Ideas. One more vote for the milk jug ring. It is the Only thing Binks will play with.

As for all the fun interactive toys....Da Bird, balls, feathers and things on string, I am the only one getting exersize as she  just likes to watch me swing them around. Lazy cat.

I never had a cat who liked those plastic rings until Queen Eva came along. They were her favorite for a long time and I have quite a stock in reserve, though she hasn't been playing with them lately.

She also likes little caps, such as the kind that come off of toothpaste, she keeps them in a little saucer in the middle of her turbo scratcher. It's my job to gather them all up every morning and put them back where they belong.
