Hi! I joined in order to seek help for a friend who was dealing with a litter of sick foster kittens. I came back today because, well, I was bored and there was a cat on my lap who was wondering why Mommy spends so much time on the doggie chat board but never on kitty chat boards. Poor baby -- so neglected. My name is Jill, and I have 2 cats, Norman & Sarah (& 3 labrador retrievers). I've had a cat pretty much all of my life, since I was 5 or 6. Norman is my "heart cat." I found him when he was a tiny baby, bloated with worms and eating mulberries off the ground outside of an off-campus apartment. He and I have been through a lot together. His markings are classic "tuxedo," so Norman is always overdressed for dinner. He & Sarah are both DSHs. She had been a barn kitten who was picked up by a dog and her mother wouldn't accept her back. The dog owners felt guilty & bottle fed her. They advertised for a home when she was 8 weeks. It was in Oct. several years ago, and they didn't advertise her color because she was solid black. We didn't know what she looked like until we got there, and it was love at first sight. Sarah is an idiot-savant. She can't manage to avoid getting cornered (and slurped) by dogs, but she can open doors. She has very poor depth perception, and the original vet did a simple neurologic test on her. He said she either sustained an injury to her brain stem as a kitten or something just didn't develop properly. We tell everyone that she has shaken kitten syndrome. Sarah might be part Siamese -- she is a great talker.
Here is pretty little Sarah.
And here is Norman playing with his best friend.
