We got home and saw this dark, chunky thing in the kitties water bowl.

We both went "ARGGHHHH what is that?!??!?!".

I thought a kitty had coughed up a hairball in it, DH thought it was a mouse.

Turned out it was a mouse - but luckily the fake kind! It was a dark green one, and was saturated, so looked quite dark.

I don't know which kitty is dropping toys in their water, but it's now on the drying rack by the sink...

Sparkle does that, too! She drops her toys in the food bowls and water bowls. (She also drops them in our shoes.) She always carries things in her mouth.

Who knows what those kitties are thinking!

This is the first time they've done it! It was so weird, and completely freaked us out

It was a hot day, so maybe they thought the mousey would like a bath...

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
This happens every once in a while with our gang.
We figured they don't do it on purpose. I saw Shelly flip a cat coil into the water bowl once. He was so bummed - he didn't want to fish it out!

Jasmine gathers all of the toys together and "kills them" by putting them in her water bowl
her favorite ones are those sparkly little pom pom balls

same here, I wake almost every morning to a toy in the water somewhere, Boomer puts them in the drain hole of the bathtub, the water fountains, shoes (while still wet from the water fountain - ewwwww)

Sonic's favourite toy was a fleece leopardprint catnip pouch - he used to regularly make his own catnip tea by leaving it to steep in his water bowl overnight - the water would be green with the catnip by the time I woke up in the morning!

I had to throw it out after several dryings out as it developed that first hint of a mouldy whiff about it. Sonic was not happy and now keeps stealing Radar's favourite fur mouse and hiding it

Movin' on up!
My cats don't put things in their water but, Pearlie, my pit mix dog does. I am always finding toys, tennis balls, sticks and rocks in the water buckets. Pearlie then "bobs" for these items.

At least it was a fake mouse! I opened the front door the other day and John's dad's 13 year old cat ran in and dropped a dead mouse right on my foot!
