We've a few cats... well.. four actually... but this one, he's the odd ball out.

I know without any kind of lineage or papers, he's a "Domestic Shorthair", but forgoing that for the moment, could someone make a wild attempt at IDing his breed, possibly, or at least what he could possibly be "mixed" with?

Our Vet has labelled him as possibly an Egyptian Mau, simply based on his build, coloring, patterns, temperment, and the fact that they are, in theory anyway, the "only" domesticated cat with naturally ocurring spots.

Anyway.. here are a few pictures. I apologize for the lack of quality in them, but he's almost "too" playful to get a good photo of.

1: Black and White shot... Facial closeup.

2: Color shot.. Sleeping, but shows the banding on his legs.. Same on his tail.

3: Color shot.. Bad lighting, but shows, in SOME detail, his spotting.

4: Color shot.. Group.. he's the only one on the Right side of the pic.. Shows his spotting a bit better.

Many Thanks,

D

Its possible he might have a bronze Mau in the background. Maus are not common but I do know of a case where a full 100% unneutered cornish rex was found running the streets of Wash DC and turned into the local shelter.

He is different looking - very handsome.

There are 4 types of naturally occuring tabbys - the classic (bullseye), the mackeral (fish stripes), the spotted, and the ticked or agouti tabby (think Aby
). They all occur to some extent in cats - both domestic and wild.

Ahh.. Also.. forgot to mention.. he's got one "feature" that none of our other cats have, nor have I seen on my parents cats, etc.

On his nose, between the tip and where i presume the bridge would start... he's got a little "hump".

I'll have a talk with him when I get home from work and see if I can coax him into letting me take some profile shots, etc. ;-)
