My baby Onyx has renal failure. It is very sad as the vet doesn't think he has much longer. He is still eating a little and drinking and seems to enjoy my company and doesn't seem to be in any pain so I am not putting him down. I want him to be able to be comfortable for as long as he has left. He hates going to the vet and he seems more ill afterwards because of the stress. If he has to die, I want him to do so in a comfortable place, surrounded by those who love him. I am so depressed because of this. He is my baby, and I am scared to come home from work and find him one day having passed. I don't even know what to do in that case. I am hoping beyond hope that he somehow, with some miracle recovers...I still am wondering if the food recall had anything to do with this, as I fed Onyx Nutro wet food...

Have you visited www.felinecrf.org? Depending on how far the renal failure has progressed, there may be treatments that can help. I know people who's senior cats have been in renal failure for several years.

Thanks for the website...I have been there once before. Very informative instructions for SubQs there. Well, right now he has had the SubQ etc before. I just nursed him back to health last year, although that time it was for anemia, which I recently found out could have been caused by early renal failure...I know there are options open he is just getting so weak I am not sure if he wants to go on. I hope he can fight this and get back to a place where we can manage the disease. The vet isn't very encouraging since he went downhill so fast. I wish there was another one in the area.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Onyx; I know how you feel, having lost several kitties to CRF. I know this is hard and I wish I had some words of wisdom for you. All I can say is do the best you can for him, and love him to pieces. You and Onyx will be in my prayers.
