Alrighty I wanna get back in a bit of shape, and drop a couple of pounds. Its not a huge deal just wanna get back to what I consider my ideal weight. Any tips? I know to drink more water, which i am working on I still have to have my daily pepsi, lol and I am not a calorie counter.

No Pepsi! Drink tons of water, exercise and use a smaller plate for your meals to trick your brain into thinking you've eaten enough! I love to bike in the warm weather - nothing better for melting the pounds away (I call it bike-o-suction)!

I should get a bike again. Sorry tho my One pepsi a day stays. I know it sounds bad. But i dont hve any other bad habits than one pepsi a day. I usually eat my mels out of a small bowl..so i got that trick covered. LOL

My mare gave me a dirty look the other day when I went for a ride, LOL i think she sensed my slight weight gain.

I started eating a big lunch, and then eating light in the evening, if at all. Lunch is my main meal.

Smaller portions, but that's been mentioned.

Once you understand the math, it's not as hard. It takes 1,000 extra calories to gain a pound. It takes 3,000 extra burned to lose a pound. Which means it's 3x as hard to lose than gain.

Aerobic exercise is your best bet. Your body burns more calories resting the more in shape you are, so if you add a little muscle mass, you'll begin losing weight. Especially vanity pounds.

And consider cutting out the pop... I know if I could quit drinking it I would lose like a pound a week already! But I can't either

Anyway, don't do anything drastic to yourself! With a teensy bit of effort you can lose five pounds without too much drama!

When I was in a wedding, and my bridesmaid dress was a size too small, I ate only fruit and veggies (and water) for two weeks to fit into the dress. Five to ten pounds is so little, though, you can just about lose/gain that in just water weight.

I'm also just 5'1. I have weighed pretty much from 105 to 115 for last 6 years, but now I'm at 120 and I don't know how to lose those 5 pounds I don't want. I know I would feel better if I did! I can see it in the pictures that I have gained even though it isn't much.

Another 5'1" -er, here! I had to lose about 5-10 lbs for my sister's wedding (she sticks me up there with 2 tall, skinny girls(SILs) and a big plaid patterned skirt- I liked to have died-LOL), and I substituted my usual snacks with fresh fruit and veggies over about 4-6 weeks, I think, and lost enough (I think it was 7 to 8 lbs) for the wedding with minimal effort, and the occasional dessert, and no other changes, really (I am a big skim milk drinker, so calories are about the same as Pepsi, but milk is supposed to help you lose weight, so, who knows?). Since I've been swimming 3 times a week, I've been about right where I want to be- 117-119lbs. Good luck!

Substitute a bowl of cereal (the good stuff w/skim milk) for lunch or dinner.
Take 30 minutes walks daily.

There's no magic bullet. The only way to lose weight is to eat right and exercise.

I've lost 30 pounds over the last 12 months and have had to give up very little. It's not about `giving up', it's about moderating for a small period of time for an end result.

So, with your one Pepsi, you may have to not have one every day for, say, three weeks in order to achieve your goal. It doesn't mean that you can never have one ever again in your life, or even one every day ever again in your life! It just means that while you're trying to lose weight, you shouldn't have one every day. It's not forever.

As soon as I realised that foregoing certain foods is not forever, losing weight became a breeze and also forced me to explore more creative food options. I ended up really enjoying my weight loss, it wasn't a burden and it wasn't a chore, and I learned how to cook some of the most delicious meals I've ever had.

But again, there's no quick fix, or magic formula. You gotta try, and you gotta work at it. Eat less, exercise, and you'll lose the weight easy!

I feel your pain - I'm only 4'11" and people don't understand how even 5-10 extra pounds can look like so much more when you're short. I lost about 15 pounds for my wedding with Weight Watchers; it's a really good program, even if you just do it on your own and not with an official group.

Also, if you drink, don't. Alcohol has a horrifying amount of empty calories.

water water water water. 8-10 8 oz glasses a day. Lots of fruits and veggies. Try leaving 1/4 of you food on the plate to cut some calories. Have some healthy hearty low cal soup for lunch or dinner.

That Special K strawberry cereal diet really works. I had started eating it for breakfast and one other meal out of pure laziness. I did this for a couple of month before I realized that it actually was a recommended diet, and I had lost around 30 lbs. I always wore scrubs or sweats, so I did not notice my clothes getting looser. One of my clients lost 80 lbs like that. Unfortunately with the job I have now all I do is sit so some of it has come back, so I am starting it again now.
