On Wednesday my grandmother is going in for a double knee replacement. She is terrified. She is telling everyone that she is going to die on the table. She is very overweight, but according to the doctor a heart as strong as an ox. She suffers from anxiety and depression on the best of days, and has "fear of falling" syndrome (generally falls at least once per week). My biggest concern is if she thinks that she is going to die, she might just well die. The mind is a mighty powerful influence. Please keep her in your prayers for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery (she is 79 years old).

Thanks

Let her know that all of us are pulling for her and will be right there in spirit. We are sending hugs and confidence to her and peace of mind as well. I know that recovery is slow with double replacement cus both knees hurt instead of one. I hope you can be by her side when she wakes in recovery. Will you be able to help her at home as well? love and peace to both of you!

My mom will be with her in recovery. She will be at the hospital for 1 wk and at least 3 weeks at a rehad centre. Once she is home we will all take turns helping her.

Thanks everyone!

Positive thoughts and prayers are on the way to your grandmother and your entire family.

Ady, the doctors have performed this surgery many, many times and really know what they're doing. I'm sure your grandmother will be just fine.

Ady tell her we will all be there holding hands around the table like her guardian angles!

We will also be there to cheer her on when she can dance on table tops again.

My Mother also had a very big fear of going to hospital so I know it is difficult to convince them that it will be okay. I am sending you strength to handle everything that comes your way also!

Love

Leslie

Thanks for the prayers everyone! I told her how many people around the world were praying for her and it seemed to help. They ended up only doing 1 knee - they may do the other in 6 months or so. She is busy complaining about everything so she is back to normal. Her blood pressure is a little high. Now she just has to work on getting the leg better!

Ady....I am reading this a little late. Glad the surgery went okay.

Hope her blood pressure sets.

Sending positive "healing" thoughts to her.

Bring her a copy of a cat magazine, her pressure will drop in no time.
Glad she's getting better.

I'm glad your grandmother's surgery went well, and I hope she has a good recovery. Maybe it won't be so scarey(sp?) for her when she has the other knee done.
