Oh Oh. This sounds so familiar to me. My birthday is next week and I have to admit that I did the same thing and heard the same exact things from my mom!Originally Posted by GingersMom
All I want is to be ACKNOWLEDGED.
My daughter was born on May 12th, the day before Mother's Day. All her life, she has IGNORED Mother's Day, because it's all about HER, and many times her birthday has fallen on Mother's Day.
I just get depressed, usually, because I am a single parent, and to have almost never gotten a card or anything...well...it gets pretty sad after more than 20 years of getting nothing.
After all, if it weren't for me being her MOTHER, she wouldn't even have a birthday. Right?
I think this is what I am going with. Thank you for your input!Originally Posted by Zissou'sMom
We decided to try something new and get her a spa package... I've always thought about it but I can't imagine her liking it. But she's been talking about this spa thing somebody at work won and sounds like maybe she is curious.
I hope she likes it! We're staying away from the weird stuff that I can't even pronounce.
Please re-read my post above - are you SURE you want a Mother's Day baby?Originally Posted by Alaynna

That is very sweet and such a good idea!Originally Posted by KitEKats4Eva!
Our Mum refuses to celebrate Mother's Day. She thinks it is nothing but a marketing ploy and she's right!
So we don't go and spend money on her because that just makes her mad. Instead, we make one day every month Mother's Day. That means we're not being dictated to by people who couldn't care less about Mothers and just want you to spend your money to line their pockets, and we are also making Mum feel special by giving her lots of surprises all year around.
We don't tell her when the day is going to be, we just surprise her with some special gesture. She loves it! We do the same for Dad, too.
