Ok, the scale I had was about 50 years old and didn't measure grams so I bought a brand new digital scale on ebay... just got it in today. I felt bad about not being able to weight the kittens daily but I can start weighing them daily now. They are all doing well, eating fine, not crying... mom is doing a good job. But it seems that they are very small for their age from what I have read. I know, every kitten is different. Just thought I'd post their weights so maybe you can all give me a little input. Sasha herself is a pretty small cat, and the dad that I saw was smallish, so I know her kittens will genetically be somewhat smaller than kittens born to a larger female. I know nothing about Romeo & Hamlet's actual parents.

Born 4/30/07
Kitten 1, "red female", first born - 2.3 ounces - 0.060 grams
Kitten 2, "blue female", second born - 1.9 ounces - 0.050 grams
Kitten 2, "green female", third born - 1.6 ounces - 0.045 grams

Born 5/1/07
Kitten 3, "calico female", fourth born - 2.0 ounces - 0.055 grams
Kitten 4, "tabby male", fifth born - 2.3 ounces - 0.065 grams

Born 4/28/07 - former bottle babies that Sasha adopted
Kitten 1, "Romeo" - 3.1 ounces - 0.085 grams
Kitten 2, "Hamlet" - 2.4 ounces - 0.065 grams

I think that as long as they are eating with no problems and seem happy, they are ok. Mine were small when they were born too. They were 1-2 oz. I haven't weighed them in about a week but last time I did they were 10-12 oz.

Kitten Weight

At birth, weight should be approx 3-3.4 ounces.

At age 1 week weight should be approx. 4 ounces.

At age 2 weeks, weight should be approx. 7 ounces.

At age 3 weeks, weight should be approx. 10 ounces.

At age 4 weeks weight should be approx. 13 ounces.

At age 5 weeks, weight should be approximately 1 pound.

By the end of the 8th week, kittens should weigh approximately 2.2 pounds.

That's correct... 1-3 were born before midnight and 4-5 were born after midnight so I count them as born on different days. And the former bottle babies were born the 28th.
I just got those weights about 20 minutes ago.

ok, the old scale reads by 1/8 of a pound. The two bottle babies register at 1/4 lb. each and the rest are all at 1/8 of a lb. It's really hard to get a good reading on that though, since it's not digital, doesn't have ounces or grams really and is hard to zero out to start over.

Once you get the formula, as well as giving it to Sasha, you may have to supplement feed the kittens. What I mean by this is that Sasha does all the mumcat duties and all you do is bottle or syringe-feed the kittens 4-5 times a day.

I already have some KMR here, since I was bottle feeding... I have a little more than half a container left. I'll go get some made up and give it to Sasha. Should I supplement the babies too, or just mom right now?

Britni, can you post a picture of each of the kittens either sitting on your hand or next to a ruler or something that will give me an idea of their size. If they're an average size for 1 1/2 weekers, yes, their weight is very low but if they're quite small for their age, their weight might fit their size.
