So it's official we are going back to Nutro. This morning Isaac & Maggie picked out the pieces of Nutro & left the C.N. I think Jordan's not wanting to eat was combination of the food & an upset tummy. Not to be gross, but he had a BM last night that must have been 10-12 inches long & at least 1 inch dia. The poor things tummy must have been so uncomfortable.

Yikes that beats humane size! Im going to be switching my cats to cal natural soon (EVO is too harsh on the older ones tummy at times) and they too always pick out what they want at first but then eventually come to terms with their new food! They have had many varieties in the past few months... Nutro to Wellness and then Wellness to EVO! Mix some Felidae chicken and rice wet into that equation!

I have to admit that it is entirely possible that they have caught on to the fact that when Jordan doesn't eat his dry food in the morning i've been giving in and giving him wet food.

I just finished a bag of California Natural and bought a bag of Nutro Natural Choice Adult Regular.
I just want to rotate foods so they don't get sick of anything. I was very happy with results from California Natural, and my kitties loved it. They are taking to Nutro well too.
I personally like Kitten formula ingredients better (no RPC, rice flour, herring meal), but I don't have a knowledgeable wet to ask if it would be OK for my kitties to eat.

I still feed Nutro dry as a supplement to the Evo canned. My cats do really well on it.

Sharky, I Used to get K/d for Hallie and it wasn't nearly $20 for 3 lb! I can't believe you had to pay that much!! I think I paid that much for 8 lb maybe.

Well last night I stoped at the vets office and the do not have samples of their foods, so I was not about to buy a 10 lb bag of food when he's already being picky. So I went to the pet store & bought a small bag of Nutro weight management (they've been eating it for at least 3 years). This morning everyone ate every last piece of their food, including Jordan. So I may be a little slow, but I finaly figure it out. I had wanted to switch to something low grain to grain free, but it does me no good if they won't eat it. Luckily the store I buy from takes back food even if it's open. At night the get Natrual Balance wet food, and there has been no problem with them eating that.

Careful with the weight management my Tiger gained over 4 pounds on it... That is with receiving only 1/2 a cup per day! I took him off the formulation and I will no longer tamper with weight management foods (same went down with Wellness Healthy Weight)! Sharky suggested i put him on a regular formula or kitten (with caution of course)... He hasn't gained but he hasn't lost yet! At least he isn't still gaining! Im glad I took him off Nutro Weight Management for that reason! He is 15.4 pounds and for his body structure his max weight should be 12! He is very active so Im not sure what went wrong! I would recommend skipping the Nutro weight management formula and stick with their regular formualtions for adult cats!

Weight management is what they have been eating for years. They get 1/4 of a cup in the morning & 3 oz of Natrual Balance canned food at night. Isaac & Maggie have been eating it since they were just under a year old. Maggie is a perfect weight, unfortunately all of my boys are a little chunky. Since Jordan is eating this so well, I'm not going to mess with food for a while now.

No harm intended was just putting it out there through research! My kitten liked the weight management food... LOL she is so skinny there was no way I was letting her stick with that! the fat cat would go to eat her kitten food and she would eat his weight management! They did love Nutro but I decided to go with something of better quality... No harm in trying new things! I did love the size of the kibble and so did they!!!

It is intresting that cats would put on weight on what is supposed to be a weight management food? My cats did not lose any weight when they first went on it, but I am going with the if it ain't broke don't fix it theory for now. At some point I may try the perscription high fiber diet to help Jordan, but I want to know that if he's not eating it's because he doesn't like the food and not because there might be something else wrong with him.

I am hoping to get him to drop a few pounds! Im glad that Nutro worked for you! I know my babies missed it, that is until they got a taste of Evo!

Yes, I'm going back. I was feeding Natural Balance Green Pea and Venison. I switched when the recall was going on too. Summer has UTI issues, and the magnesium is too hight in no grain foods. Chevy's stomack got upset just from a bite or 2 of SD c/d. I knew Chevy would be alright on Nutro since he was okay with the kitten formula. I used to give Summer Nutro because that's what the Shelter gave her. The magnesium level 0.085 in Nutro NCCC's Indoor formula, has less than the Purina St/Ox I got at the vet (which is 0.09). Max cat has 0.085 too, but I like the ingredients in NCCC Indoor better.
