My 8 month old kitten, Leisuresuit Larry, just got neutered about a week ago. I gave him the extra pain medication offered by the Humane Society so he would be more comfortable for the following three days. I, regretably, had to leave for a wedding in the Keys for the next four days, and my boyfriend's brother stayed at our house to watch the cats. When I got home, Larry seemed skinny and lethargic. Our "catsitter" said he seemed to be eating, but since I've been home he won't eat and went from playful to absolutely narcoleptic. He even fell asleep in his food dish! He is drinking water and when I pinch his skin, it goes back to normal. I will call for an appointment tomorrow (it's 1am now), but if anyone is up, tell me what you think. Thanks.

When was the last time you know for sure that he ate something? If he hasn't eaten in 24 hours, I would definitely try to get food down him tonight. Otherwise, call the vet first thing in the morning. It's possible he caught a virus while at the vet's office that is making him feel under the weather, but it's better to be safe than sorry, especially with the little guys.

I just registered on this site last night, so you don't know, but all my 5 cats have great stories about how I found them, rescued them and kept them. However, I made one mistake. When I got Leisuresuit Larry his shots, I did it through a low-cost clinic instead of my vet and I just assumed they checked for feline leukemia. When I took him back to the Humane Society, they said he seemed to have a pre-existing condition and should immediately take him to my vet. Upon looking at his shot records, my vet said he was never tested. So, at only eight months old I had to put my baby down for being at the terminal stage of feline leukemia. The vet said it was rather usual for him to not have symptoms until this stage and that he probably had it from birth. (We found him at a brake garage at six weeks). All of my friends come to me for pet advice, so I feel so stupid. Yet, if I had found out about it early on, I would have missed out on so much! And the vet said he was not at a point of suffering. I believe I'll be at that point instead for a while to come. Thanks for listening.
