Just venting. We found out today that the sump pump in the crawl space is broken. We found a foot of water in the crawl space that is seeping into our finished basement. I've just spent the last 4 hours sucking the water out of the carpet with a carpet shampooer while DH pulled out the pool pump and is sucking the water out of the crawl space. I guess this is a sucky night.

And its supposed to rain again tonight. Looks like we'll be installing a new sump pump hopefully tomorrow.

At least the paneling doesn't appear to be ruined, but the new roll of linoleum that we had just bought for the basement bathroom was sitting in a pool of water when I found it. Hope that isn't ruined.

*sigh* OK, back to sucking up more water!!

That's a pain-I would call a flooring place to see if the lino is salvagable.

UGH! Sounds like a word I can't print here! At least you got creative about it quickly. Hope there wasn't too much damage. Make sure you get something to spray down the area that was wet once you've got it under control again - don't want mold or mildew! There are people- and animal-friendly products that kill mold and mildew. I'm sorry I don't know what they are off-hand - I just know they exist.

Good luck!
