Look out for signs of restlessness, mucous etc. Phone vet again if you are unsure at any point!
Will do ,thanks for your help.

I'd be more concerned about the multiple matings over a few days - possible that the kittens are conceived at different times and that could mean all not surviving as some are older, some are younger.

Keep your vet's number handy in case you have problems. And expect to lose a kitten or two (not saying you will, but a good possibility).

yes goldenkitty has a very good point. premature kittens are highly unlikely to survive so hopefully they will all be the same age and come to term. My cat delivered early after me saying there were no signs!! She ate a huge meal about an hour before the first, no milk until after the kittens, so it seems theres a fair bit of variation. keep a close eye on her. Any news today?

Hi thanks for your reply . Tried hard to work out dates properly cause she is so big , it works out she is actually 65 days today (only it was a night my sister was round she shot passed her to get out the door which was 65 days ago, also 1 day before that to) so any time now ,so hopefully they will be healthy . Ive also spoken to the vet and they seem happy with her.I have the number close to hand just in case. Anyway thankyou all for your care and advice. louise
( I will try and put some pics of her on another thread, dont know how but ill have a go)

Thank you, I have been breeding birmans for 2 years now and still have a few questions! My Issy is 57 days pregnant and producing little droplets, I read that some queens who have had more than one litter get it sooner and just reading this makes me feel okay, though she does spend a week with the stud so I do my best with the dates, you never know, usually shes at about 63. Thanks again for easing my mind :)

Usually on my queens, if you could express a drop or so of milk from the nipples, they would deliver within 48 hours
What about queens who have had a couple of litters before? Do you find they produce it sooner? Thanks :)

sez2929,

They can get it sooner than that,   some will have it maybe 5 days ahead ,  I think I have heard of even a week before birth,  while  others don't get their milk in until they give birth.

I think probably it is not as common to get it very early?   but  I suppose it might vary by breed or lines within a breed,  so I would ask  the breeder you got this queen from and other mentors within your breed.

Hopefully she will keep them in the oven a while longer!

Hi there,

Thanks for clearing that up, I always get a little bit paranoid the days leading up to the birth of a litter, still so much I have to learn! She does spend a week with the stud so I can never be exactly sure when she mated, I generally take it from the day I collect her, it will be easier when I get my own pretty boy haha. She has never had it so early before but I guess we shall see, she seems happy enough :)

Hey, people who have been breeding for 40 years still are continuing to learn things.    Learning never stops.    Or it shouldn't.  There is always more one can learn.  whether about breeding or any other endeavor.

Was she in heat when you took her to stud?    because if so,   she may have mated not so very long after they were put together.  ( I don't know if she starts out in a queen's pen within the stud's quarters? )

If  she was in heat when she went there,  and  was put with the stud within a day or two  and they had a fairly quick courtship and then mated repeatedly,   she may be 4 or 5 days farther along than you're thinking,  if you're counting from the day you collected her.     So she may be at around 61-62 days.

The stud owner should be paying some attention to what is going on and should be able to at least tell you within a day  when they started mating.    Then  count from the 2nd day of mating.

How long have her earlier pregnancies gone ?   (and was it the same stud/ same schedule / same counting from the LAST day  of the week she was with him ? )

Is there a reason she stays a whole week ?

Totally, I love learning new things especially about genetics etc. and what's going to come out this time! I have bred her with a new beautiful champion blue bicolour ragdoll boy this time for the experience so will be exciting to see the results, hopefully a super healthy Mum and babies!

She was definitely 100% in heat when she visited with Ollie, she went straight in with him and the owner seemed to think they hadn't got busy so she might have to come back but they must have been sneaky and done the deed as she is most certainly ready to pop now! I am just planning on staying home as much as possible apart from work from now until shes ready, and everything is set up for her now.

Her pregnancies have been within 1 to 2 days of the expected due date, between 63 and 65 days. I have always counted from the last day. She stays with him the whole time she is in heat and Issy has very intense heats.
