What's the best solution for 7 cats? Where do you get those boxes/cabinets for the litter? Right now mom has one huge tubberware container and a smaller box next to it.

OK I took a picture of the set-up now. It's so messy and I don't know what I can do to change it. She truely prefers having the boxes on one floor. As you can see the wall on the right is a MESS. Mom moved the bigger box to where you see now but now they scratch the dryer and it sounds so bad. Any suggestions?

I cannot see the picture?

I've got LBs on both floors. Basically, hidden where ever I can. There's one under the TV on the entertainment center behind a curtain, one behind a chair, two in the plant corner, one in my bedroom.
I just jam there whenever they aren't in plain sight!

LoL I would do the same but it's her house. We had a cat Buddy who was very ill and sprayed in MANY of the rooms. I just started smelling it this past week but the most of the rugs are being ripped out and the others will be treated. Mom's just afraid of messes again on the rugs. The plaster wall in the picture is a mess. DH is thinking of putting a scratching pad there or something. I am dreading scooping these boxes. I know for a few weeks I will put one in our room despite mom cause the kitties will be so scared when we move in.

We keep 4 in 'the cat room' and 3 in each bathroom. In the bathtub, next to the toilet and under the sink.

under a pile of cats
For 8 cats, I have 11 boxes. They don't need quite that many but I've been changing some things...so I'm leaving it this way for awhile to see which ones they're really using/needing. I have them on both floors.

5 in the 'cat' room upstairs (2 out in the open, one home made litter furniture carpeted box thing, and 2 in the walk in closet)

3 in the walk in closet of another room upstairs.

3 in the bathroom downstairs (one by the toilet and 2 under the sink in the cupboard)

Oddly enough, the 2 in the bathroom cupboard get used the most. I just leave the door ajar, about an inch or two...and they squeeze in. They seem to like it.

We made the box/cabinet thing out of plywood and carpet remnants. I think it's 24x24x24...so there's a lot of room inside.

It might sound bad, but we've only got 2 litter boxes for 7 cats currently that use them. We are staying in the basement until the upstairs is finished, and we've got one in the corner of our bedroom behind a "puppy pen" so the dogs don't decide they need a snack. The other box is in the other corner of the basement behind a home made wall... but only my boyfriend's parents cats use that litter box usually... our cats will come back into our room to use the litter box.
But I clean the box every time one of them uses it, so it's always clean.

I feel bad too but I have no clue where I can "hide" other boxes that isn't in plain view. I will probably have to scoop it 4 times a day. Good thing I am not working.
