Has anyone of you fallen once into "Gambling"? What can you tell about this hmm... habit? And what about the people who stand behind it - are they so greedy that they can never stop letting people fall into it? I hope I'm not bringing up a though issue...

Since I visit Las Vegas almost every month, I set a spending limit and no more. No credit card, debit cards...etc. Gambling is a form of entertainment and HOUSE ALWAYS WINS. If you ever get the idea that you can win, I advise you do not gamble or you will loose everything you have and then some. Other than that, you are just buying excitement. I don't see any harm in it.

I dont go go the casino. I dont see the point. the house always wins, and IMO its not all that entertaining.

Now..you put me on the race track..and thats DIFFRENT *LOL* while i dont agree with anyone who would spend..their life out there, gambling their money away. You have a better chance of picking a winner on a track.

When I go to the track I take $30 with me for the day and leave everything else alone. and I can have a fun full day.

Agree, horse racing is always fun. I was in Vegas for Kentucky Derby two years ago and it was packed. The energy there was great, it was so much fun. Betting on sports (often fixed, imo), dogs, boxing, and other odd stuff is just as fun as horses.

I like to play scratch offs, when I get my money for the month I pay all my bills, get what I need and what my girls need and what I need for the house and the rest is for the scratch offs, I figure I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I need something for fun.

I also like scratch offs. I rarely get them and only do when I remember they exist.
I like the slot machines the most, but I haven't been on one of those in years. If I do get a chance to go to one, I always set aside very small amount and that's all I spend. I don't like doing it often because your chances of winning are slim and all that money lost is just a waste.
I am a person who loves to save money so it is not hard for me to not gamble.

I enjoy it if I'm on vacation to a small extent. Especially, if it's a group going. Or if it's at someone's house after dinner. I hate the slots as I don't see the point. Black Jack and Roulette and Poker have their merits of fun as long as you don't get carried away.

However, I have visited some casinos in Ontario outside of Toronto and seen some depressing sites. People glued to the slots is bad. But also, I went to the restroom once and there was an older woman in there with the paramedics, puking and crying into the sink. I could only imagine that she had just gambled away her retirement money. The whole scene made me want to run, run, run away. They were also forcing her to sign something, which gave me the creeps.

I have also heard of some horror stories of people gambling on the internet late at night, and sacrificing their homes and family as a result due to crazy Visa bills.

I don't mind the idea of gambling for the purpose of entertainment. When my parents went to Las Vegas, they stayed for a few days, played the $0.05 slot machines and lost around $5 in total. (during which time, they got free food and free imported beer) I'm not sure if the house really won on that one.

However, even if I don't mind the idea, I don't actually gamble. First, I don't have money to spend on that. But also, I have a problem with Loto Quebec (which controls all lotteries and casinos in Quebec) since they tried to build a new casino in one of the poorest neighborhood in town (which happens to be my neighborhood). Their plans were defeated by petitions and protests, but I still don't want to give them any of my money!

I love to play Bingo, and try and play once a week. I guess that counts as gambling. I stay within my budget though.

Who is that "House"? a machine? a monster?
or maybe it's a smart person (or group of people) who like to take people's money "legally" and never stop?

I think bingo might be fun, have never played it. The one time I went to Vegas - free trip with a friend, I was almost broke so allowed myself $50 to "play" with. It lasted all three days! Then I was done. Haven't gambled since. I don't have enough money to chance throwing it away so have never really been tempted. I know people who will toss entire paychecks away on lottery or scratch offs and that is heartbreaking.

I do not gamble. I have been gambling 3 times and it's such a waste of money IMO! Of course you get free food and snacks and drinks but seriously they only give you them because you are using their machines and it's how they make money. that is JMHO though. Don't get me wrong most of them are nice and use common courtesy but I just don't see the "fun" in gambling, period and it's addicting and I have seen people go there and that's how they spend their life playing machines hoping to win the lottery or money and just gamble their lives away.
It's just a waste of money AND time and I would hate to see anyone waste their life away, gambling. My mom is very addicted but she doesn't go as much as she used to.
