Some of you may know that France voted today for a new President. The two candidates were Nicholas Sarkozy, ex Interior Minister, and Segolene Royal, who has been running the Poitou- Charentes region of France, and is the first woman to reach the final round of voting for the Presidency. It has been announced that Sarkozy has definitely won and Royal has conceded. There will be a terrific shake-up here - good I think for small businesses but he will not tolerate social security cheats or those who won't find work. He will also let people work more than the 35 hours weekly which at present is mandatory and leads to the two hour lunch break taken by all workers. So there will be some changes in La Belle France! His foreign policy will change things too, inside and outside the EU.

I had to use a dropper with this since it was kind of hard to put it in my cat's ears. I cleaned my cats ears first, then I put the R-7M cleaner in her ears. Next, I inserted 10 drops into each...

It is the most economical litter I have ever used. I only put a layer of litter in the pan that will cover half the pan. As the cats use it, it turns to sawdust. When its all dust you dump it....

This is probably the single most important toy I ever bought. I got it when my boy was a kitten and two years later, he still plays with it every day.

I read an article on him about a year ago, sounds like he means business. He sounded very tough on crime and vandalism.

I don't think anybody would be surprised. In fact, it will probably be a long, hot summer.

Yes I agree - reforms are needed after having lived there.
It was a joy to see all the French so happy and proud cheering on TV. Positive patriotism is a lovely thing. The future looks positive...strict and full of change, but positive. Ive just spoken on the phone to some friends in France...one whose an adamant socialist and is currently consoling himself with a bottle of whiskey lol. But the rest are very happy and see this an as event that has brought the nation together (I did question about if that is really the case when Sarkozy won by 53%..but they seemed to believe so)
I think the Socialist candidate, Royal, is an excellent charismatic politician too. But as Sarkozy said, its time for France to stop being repentant and to start looking after France.
Ok so France done. UK next hopefully.

I know very little (that is, virtually nothing apart from their names!) about either candidate, but I did hear there was some rioting in Paris this morning and the police were using tear gas. That's a shame. If he won by such a sweeping majority he must represent what the people really do want.
I hope this will be a positive change for that beautiful country. They have had a lot of strife, unrest and instability of late.
