Hi,

I hope somebody can help me solve this problem. I have two 3-year-old cats, Albert and Sonia, both fixed. They are very attached to each other, and unfortunately, their favorite time to play is at night. They chase each other and make lots of noise. I wake up few times at night, and now my neighbor complained to my landlord that he cannot sleep. I understand him completely. I tried to separate them, but they cry or scratch my bedroom door making more noise. I play with them in the evening, feed them to make them sleep at night. It does not help much. Shall I change their diet, so they are not so frisky? I would appreciate any advice. I love my cats. However, moving out is not an option in my current situation.

Maybe you could try locking them in a smaller room together. Somewhere where they cannot run around and make alot of noise?

i once read that feeding cats before you go to sleep reduces their night time behavior because they are full...meaning that the hunting instinct isn't in overdrive. My cats sleep all night.

Where whiskers abound.

I agree, I feed mine in 3x a day. Maybe have them sleep with you after they eat before they go to bed?

The only thing that worked for me in this situation is to have them lie on the bed with us when we went to bed. Also, try to "wind them down" before bed. Create a quiet atmosphere, maybe brush them, I know that always calms my kitties down. Also, a little catnip about an hour before you want them to calm down works. They will get hyper at first with it but then they will get nice and sleepy.
