So my mom called me up yesterday FRANTIC. She has a lhasa apso/shih tzu mix that she got from one of my sister's friends dogs that had puppies. Chloe is about 4 now. My family has never really had much money but my mom does what she can. She recently took Chloe to the vet to get her rabies & distemper shots as well as to get spayed. They did bloodwork and it turns out one of the enzymes in her liver is low. They wont do the spay until my mom takes her to a specialist which is going to cost $130 just to be seen and then $500 for a sonogram plus any treatment she may need.

Chloe only eats dry food (some Purina brand I think) so we can rule out the recall. My question is does anyone know what may cause this? And is there anything my mom can do? I feel so bad for her! Chloe is practically her best friend and she is so worried!!

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

One the dog should have higher quality food .. recall or not that is a start...

GO TO THE specialist ... or call around for other vets that may have the knowledge and equipment...

I am dealing with a liver issue also and you need to get a firm dignoisis for piece of mind
