Ok I really really do not like the food Ping is on. I only bought because the feed store stopped carrying Felidea dry. And I could not go to the specialty store to get better food. So I just bought the best store brand I could find. And now that I have the Serengeti I won't him off the cheap store stuff now. Generally speaking Ping as done well with any food changes. He has an iron tummy I thing.

So do ya'll think it will be ok for me to just switch him off the bad stuff cold turkey today and get him on the good stuff.

He should be OK with that, especially since you are switching from a low quality brand to Serengeti. If he does vomit or get diarrhoea, you can go back to doing a gradual switch.

Since you say he has an iron stomach I think he should be ok. My kitties both have pretty tough tummies too and do very well with switches providing they like what I'm switching to.

Agree with the previous posters... MOST of the gradual is cats often have change issues and some tummy issues

I did it gradually, mixing in more and more of the new food that I wanted them to eat until they were eating 100% new food. This worked very well for Persi & Alley. It took about a week and I threw the old stuff away.
