We don't know that the truck hit him. The screen went white as you saw the truck approaching him. It's possible the truck stopped and he got on it and left town. It's possible that he jumped out of the way and hit his head and has amnesia. It's possible that he fell flat on the ground so the truck was able to drive over him without running him over. Other than seeing Ray you didn't miss much. Tons of scenes flashing by but Neela kisses Ray in a hospital bed.
