Hello, Everyone!

I just found this site this morning - YAY! I am the loving mother of two boys (ages 14 and 12) and 6 female cats (all of whom live strictly indoors though I let the boys out quite often! They do cause such trouble indoors! hahahaha) My friends and family tease that my cats don't live with me...I live with them! They definately rule the house and almost every room is equipped to accomodate their joy!
Our greatest cat moment was experiencing the birth of our four kittens last June 1st. I was determined to give them away prior to their birth, (they came as a surprise as the mother was determined to have been spayed, but when she ran out the door one day, that was it!). Once they were here I knew I had to keep them all! I would not trust anyone to give them a more loving home! My oldest cat was a gift from my boyfriend 4 1/2 years ago, and the second oldest was rescued from a Wal-Mart parking lot 3 1/2 years ago by my mother and oldest son. Well, that was quite an intro. Hope I didn't bore you. But I do have one more item. My second oldest cat, (she's probably close to four years), has a thick discharge coming from her anus. It's sort of gray in color and the smell is quite strong. The best way I can describe it is like a bad yeast infection. (I know this is gross...sorry.) This happened one other time to her and cleared itself up within a few days. Any ideas? Her last check-up at the vet was A-OK. She is otherwise just fine so I hesitate to run her to the vet. Thanks for any help!

Dear FemKat6; First of all, welcome to the Cat Site. We are all as cat crazy as you, which makes this a great/fun site. Now, about your 4yr. female: it probably is the yeast infection again which means it is reaccuring and that is not good. It may clear up like last time, but it will come again and be worse each time. You need to call the vet for antibiotics. A discharge (anywhere) is a symptom not to be ignored! Let us know what happens and if you have pics of your cats please post them if you can. We all love to see pictures and truly believe there is no such thing as an ugly cat. Glad you are with us!

I have no suggestions about the health problem as I don't know as much as I should about those things but I wanted to say welcome!

Same here. Don't have a clue as to the discharge, but I'll bet somebody here does. Just a big welcome from me, and hoping you find it as nice here as we all have.

This is an AWSOME site and I can testify to all of the kind and generous people here. As per your introduction, you are certainly going to fit right in.

So, from me, MeowMan (Chuck) and my 2 sons, Socrates and Tiger, we welcome you!

Hello and welcome to The Cat Site! So, you've been kitten smitten too? It's just plain wrong not to love those little mewlings. I'd take Three-Legged Kat's advice vis-a-vis veterinary care for your cat's malady. Mind, I'm not even a partial expert on such matters; but if something is obviously wrong, well. . . .

So, I'm sure you'll like the neighborhood here! We entertain and visit regularly, so don't be a stranger.

Hi & welcome Femkat,

I'm also a new member and I love the site. The people are very friendly and very helpful. As the others have already recommended, I think you should see your vet as soon as possible. Just like the rest of us, I'm sure you love your cats very much and don't want to see any of them get sick. Get her checked out and back on the road to being healthy.

Thanks, everyone, for your warm welcome! I'm enjoying reading your posts and you certainly do seem like a wonderful group of folks! I look forward to spending more time getting to know you.

Thanks for the advice regarding Patches. I will be taking her to the vet this week, though her malady has already cleared up. ???

I have to give kudos to my fiance...one of the reasons I'm marrying him on August 18th is that he has never once fussed at me for having 6 cats! He understands that I'm a package deal! Now who could pass up a guy like that?! Lucky me!

Mr. Cat, I enjoyed your HUG!
