It was weird because a day after he was born his eye started opening on one eye, and I knew better then to think that was normal. But he seemed fine so i left it be. Today I got home from work to see that his eye was closed shut and there was dry puss holding it shut. I grabbed a q-tip and some warm water and cleaned it as best as I could. When I got close to getting all of the dry puss out... POP! There went a LARGE amount of puss out of such a little kittens eye.

Is this something that I should be worried about? I feel so bad about this. I don't want him to be in pain or anything, and my dad told me it's probably most likely that it's going to be the same way tomorrow (closed shut)

Having kittens around again makes me so nervous.

~Pus indicated infection. Is there any other problems such as sneezing or sniffling? You need to be careful because if one kitten has this Im pretty sure its contagious to the others. To reduce the swelling and loosen the lids wipe gently with a soft cloth, tissue, or cotton ball moistened with warm water. Follow this by gentle separation of the eyelids and removal of the discharge that has become trapped behind them.~

~The best procedure is to take the whole litter to your veterinarian who can tell you whether actual eye damage is present or likely to occur. If the infection is simple he or she will provide you with an appropriate antibiotic ointment that you will be instructed to instill into the eyes several times a day after removing the discharge.~

I would get him checked out by the vet if you can. An infection in such a small kitten can quickly turn nasty.

Let us know how he is getting on
