I didn't know where to post this, so move it if need be.

I saw RB Sandy Paws eating a rabbit yesterday. I didn't take it away & I wish I had. Anyways, he was too lazy to catch anything. He always laid down in the dish to eat.
I know he did not catch the rabbit. But, the farmers were spraying the field yesterday & the day before. Is it possible that whatever was being sprayed in the field killed the rabbit, which he ate & killed him?

I ask because some of the other cats could've eaten the rabbit as well.
And I can't just run all 7, plus the odds-n-ends crew to the vet. Everyone but Cow, Sandy's best bud, are acting normal.

I am over analyzing his death, but the thought struck me & I know I've got to ask someone. I couldn't get a hold of the vet either.

It's always a possibility. Although I don't think it would be a very high chance. Have you tried looking online to see if you could get any info there?
I know this is tearing at your heart and I wish there was more that I could do for you.

While its a possibility, considering the rest of the cats are fine long after Sandy Paws has passed on, I would think it is unlikely that either the rabbit was what killed him, or that the others had enough to hurt them if it was. I would just keep an eye on them and make sure they're all behaving normally for a few more days. I bet everything will be just fine.

I would ask your neighbor what chemicals are in the spray, and then see if you can find information about how they affect animals. I'm sorry for your loss.

I live in a farming community and I DO question some of the poisons they use for their corn crops. I have seen alot of hawks and various birds die in odd ways here. Poison would get passed down from the animal that got poisoned to the predator.

This is why they are so concerned with the tainted pet food getting into the hog and chicken feed.

For example, if a mouse ate Decon and the cat ate the mouse before it died, the cat would get poisoned by the decon too.

P.S I am so sorry to hear about Sandy Paws. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
