I just got my two male cats neutered today.
I have a female cate who is not spayed yet.
My two male cats seem to be still trying to *get on* my female cat.
Is this normal for neutered cats to do?
They seem to be doing it more now, then they have all along before they got neutered...

You need to keep the males away from the female for about a month, or until you get her spayed.
They can still impregnate her for that time until the hormones settle.

Wow, even though they are fixed they can still get her pregnant?!
That really sucks because I left them alone together today....

Yes, for about a month.

After the female is spayed, they could be free to mingle right away without worry.

Not only can they still get her pregnant for a month after being neutered, the strange smells from the vet office probably causes the reaction

Keep them away from her and get her spayed quickly. She may be coming into heat very soon and that's triggering the behavior - they are still thinking "male".

How old is everyone? Are the males and female related?

Well I have been in contact with my vet.

They told me I have nothing to worry about, because they tie the tubes and remove the testicles. So if my female gets pregnant, they are gonna be in biiiig trouble!

Another vet also told me, the chances of her getting pregnant are slim to none.

Yes, I do plan on getting her spayed very soon.

All three are about 1 year old, not related.

well if my vet is telling me she can't get pregnant and she does, then they will be responsible for whatever she needs.

I can't believe some vets attitudes!! It doesn't actually matter how they do the neuter - it is similar in humans, they can still produce sperm after a vasectomy, it takes a while for the sperm to 'disapper'. Please dont expect that the vet will cover things, it might not work that way. You are best off just separating them to be on the safe side.

Well I think that it is unfair to me for them and another vet to tell me that she won't get pregnant.

Have any of you guys experienced your unspayed females getting pregnant from you neutered males?

So, say she is pregnant now.
Doesn't that mean I can't get her spayed?

I'd probably go with what people have been saying.
I've heard about neutered cats getting an unspayed female pregnant before.
I also know how irresponsible vets can be sometimes, please take your female to the vets and get her spayed..

I think you can get her spayed, to stop her from going into far in the pregnancy.

I'm not sure about the UK, but here in the US vets will do a spay/abort in the early stages, often at no additional charge. Could you call your vet to ask?

Well I'm in Canada, obviously the vets here have no clue what they are doing!

I'm so angry that they wouldn't inform me of this, I also told them I had an unspayed female, and they said nothing!

I'm just wondering why even vets at differnt clinics would tell me the same thing my vet told me.

Does it make a difference that they tied the tubes AND took the testicles...or is that how all vets do it??
