Good question.

Probably depends on the wood posts and the backing.
My wood posts are not varnished at all, so at worst they'll be a little bit more sanded.
You could always cover the backing (glue a piece of fabric on there, or a second carpet (then when the outside gets worn, you can just reverse it)

Hey, that's a great idea! Can you come over and do it to a door? Cleo being blind is no excuse. She has gone in and out of the cat door a million times. But she still scratches up the door frame from the outside to come in lol. Need to do something about it

The cats seem to like it
Your cats remind me of mine. Love the shot with the the striped tail in the foreground.

thats just a fantastic money busting idea - you see you don't really need to buy mega-expensive stuff so that kitties can have a manicure

WTG Wormy!!!! And the backing probably won't hurt the wood nearly as much as the scratching the cats might do to it...

Thanks

When I woke up this morning, Kinah was using the post... she had all four paws on it and seemed to be having a blast!
Which made me notice another good thing about that scratching post... it wont tip over!

what a great idea. I wonder if it would help to wrap the posts in that non-slip carpet backing before the carpet goes on? It would give some traction and protect the posts.
