What an afternoon!!!! I had a cardiologist appointment at 1pm today, so I went to get my car from the work parking garage and Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m parked in – GRRRR!!! The valet people are normally the ones who park people in, so I went searching for them (they were nowhere near my car of course), and one of the guys came over and said that they donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t park cars there – some rude person has just decided to park me in!!

So he said to find security and see if they could find the owner, so I went on a search for the security guards, and checked the vehicle database (all staff are encouraged to enter their license plate into the database for just these occasions), and it wasnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t there. It could only be a staff member, because you need a staff badge to access this car park.

By this time it was getting late, so I had to call a cab to come get me and take me to my appointment. This of course took another 15 minutes, so I called to say I was running late, and got to my appointment 30 minutes late. Because I was late, I just had to wait until they could squeeze me in, which took another 10-15 minutes (usually theyâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]re right on time).

Then during my echo (heart scan for my aortic aneurysm), the measurements they were taking were bigger than my last scan 2 months ago. The sonographer usually measures it, then when my cardiologist looks at it later and measures it, he takes the absolute largest measurement, and it ends up being a bit bigger than what the sonographer takes. This time the measurement the sonographer took was bigger than the largest measurement my cardiologist has taken. If thatâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s true, and it is actually bigger, then my aneurysm is growing (due to the pregnancy), and is a serious risk of me having an aortic dissection and needing open heart surgery. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m not going to freak out too much at the moment, Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m trying to stay calm until I hear from my cardiologist. This is my worst fear though – if it IS growing and IF it keeps growing, I either risk my life (literally), or have to face termination in order for me to have the necessary surgery.

So that was freaking me out, then the sonographer kept following my aorta down to my abdomen, and the baby kept getting in the way, so she quickly showed me the baby while she was there, and I got to see little Junior moving away and it's little hand waving!
Itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s such a relief to see the baby and see itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s still moving – itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s just a nice little reassurance!

So then, I had to go back downstairs with a mixture of fear about my heart, excitement about the baby, and frustration about my car while I waited for yet another cab, which took another 20-25 minutes to come.

So now, $60 in cab fares later (GRRRR!!!!!!!), and over an hour of my time wasted from stuffing around trying to find the car owner, and waiting for cabs, (Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m a contractor, so get paid hourly) I still have heard nothing from the car owner who blocked me (I left my details on his car window, and told him I would appreciate him covering my cab costs), but the car has moved, so either security decided to tow it, or the car owner returned and decided to ignore my note.

The guys in my section are so cool though, they said “why didnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t you come tell us, we would have just picked the car up and moved it!!â€.
They saw straight away how upset I was and went straight into protective big brother mode

Sigh… what a day.

I am hoping and wishing so much for you to have a safe pregnancy and delivery. Please keep safe and do (or don't do!) whatever your doctor tells you is best

Wow what a day. Go put your feet up, put on some nice music, and just take a good rest...with a book or have a nap..tune out the rest of the world, it hassled you enough today!

I hope the news from your cardiologist will be better than your expectations.

Are you kidding - my in-laws are visiting from Australia and have been away for a week or so touring, and are back today and we have the next 4 days with them. No resting or relaxing for me...

Sorry, I didn't know. Hmm...tell them they need to take you out to dinner, and tell your mil what kind of day it was (re the car blocking you, I can understand if you wish to keep your concerns re the u/s private for now).

Heh, it's ok, they're not TOO bad...
I actually just heard from the cardiologist and they think that it's fine and nothing has changed, so that's a huge weight off my shoulders! I'm still a little dubious, but I trust them!

Wow! Thank goodness the news is somewhat positive. When are you due? How often will they check you heart now. I will keep sending "healthy heart and baby" vibes your way.
