This is interesting to me, and I thought someone might come up with a reason why it happens.
Dynah was raised here, by me, in my bedroom with her brothers and sisters. As they got old enough to sleep with me on my bed, she always took right next to my head or around my face as her favourite sleeping spot.
Then when I moved, she refused to sleep there, and instead sleeps at the foot of my bed (this literally changed overnight). It is the same bed, same sheets and everything. Different location.
We just came back for the summer. I am now on an old futon with new sheets, other than her favourite blanket which is on the end of my bed. She has started to sleep next to my head again, some 4 months later. Also this also happened overnight.
Weird eh?

Maybe there was a draught near to where your head was when you moved, and she felt uncomfortable. Or maybe for some reason she didn't feel 'safe' there, like she was too close to the door or something. Or maybe cats have a natural feeling for 'Feng Shui', and the room was orientated the 'wrong' way for her.

Just random guesses - I have no idea but also find this interesting!

that is interesting! It could also be the positioning of the bed near a window or the North, South, East and West direction I have one cat who sleeps near the windows that face eat (in both places I've lived!)
Cats are an enigma!
