ESP - do you believe?

Numerous personal experiences kind of like yours convince me that it is sort of real, but not like in the movies. More like what they usually call "mother's intuition" or what twins seem to have, you just know when something is wrong or something. Usually with smell, oddly.

I do believe in esp, and in other abilities such as the ability to foresee the future. I've had several friends with very unsual abilities, plus do something I don't even know what to call.
I often, all my life, but especially when I was working as a nurse this came into play - couple of things one was that I'd tell the resident what the results of an exam were before they finished for example, and consistently would be right and startle them.

The main thing I do is get this feeling, which I can't describe, and say a sentence or two to the person I am talking to, which is exactly either what they were thinking..word for word or is the sentence/s they were just about to say. Freaks most folks out. I have no control over when, I just always know when I've just done it.

Dh now simply tells me to get out of his head

Yes, I do believe. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), I've never been gifted in this area but I have known people who are.

That said, I also believe there is a sucker born every minute, and for every sucker there is at least one less than honest person willing to part a fool from his money.

I believe everyone has intuition, you know that gut feeling telling you something is a bad idea? or to take a chance? ...never mind that I usually don't listen to mine.

I grew up in a very haunted house and even though everyone else in the house did experience some stuff it seemed to single me out the most. And now, because of it, I can tell if something is around... it's like the watched feeling x10 and getting zapped by electricity.

One thing that I do have problems with is crowds, I get easily 'overloaded' by them and end up feeling sick or get a bad headache. Makes stressful christmas shopping extra fun
Not sure if it means anything or not, maybe I'm just easily stressed.

Oh! and a couple months ago visiting family I found out my stepsister was pregnant again, something said 'girl'. The ultra sound a few weeks ago did show that it is a girl. Of course there's a 50/50 chance on that guess.

I have the odd dream that seems very vivid and real, and yet about something terribly insignificant and mundane, so I'll remember it, and then find myself in that exact same place months or years later. I mean, to the point where I'm reciting other people's sentences before they're spoken. I choose to belive it's a sign that I'm following the path I'm meant to in my life.

I've also had a few out of body experiences, just where I'm laying in bed and can feel myself floating a few feet above my body. I've read a book or two on how to develop the ability for your consciousness to leave your body, but frankly it scares me too much to pursue.

I do think that everyone has the ability to see/sense things beyond what is in front of them, to some degree. It's just that for certain people, they've learned to develop the skill more, or are just naturally more perceptive of such things.

lol i always like stories of ESP, ghosts, UFO's etc. but i dont beleave them.

I believe that everyone has different levels of ESP. Some more than others. I think that I have some abilities with ESP.
For the longest time I can remember...whether it be on TV or me talking to someone. If they get ready to tell me their age the number always pops up in my head right before they say it and I have never been wrong so far. I have also had questions pop in my head while watching a show as they were getting ready to say it.
Also, on the Emmy's awards on some of the categories, some of the nominees that won I had their names pop in my head right before they announced the winner.
There was one experience I had that was very unusual. When I was taking genetics in college, we always had a take home test. Well, there was this one questions that was worth 20 points and we had to figure out the genotype for grandparents, parents and grandchildren. But you had to start a certain way. You couldn't go from one to the other based on the information that was given. I was SOOO frustrated!!! I worked on it for so long it was the only one I couldn't figure out, so I decided to lie down for a bit and just as I was drifting off all these letters popped in my head in a specific order and I told myself I better get up and write it down. Well, as soon as I woke up, I was already forgetting. I couldn't figure it out, and so I figured what did I have to lose?? I was able to fill in all the genotypes based on what I had seen, but I had no idea if it was correct. It was worth 20 points after all and I thought that was better than leaving it blank.
Well, after they were graded and I got it back I couldn't believe it, but it was right!! So do I believe in ESP, yes, I do just based on the few abilities I have and I can't explain why or where it comes from.

Of course there's UFO's, and I don't mean extraterrestrial we don't fully know what our government is flying around up there until they decide to tell us. Remember the U only stands for unidentified.

As for ghosts, you'll have to wait till it happens to you.

I believe it to a degree. The closest I have had was telling a friend back in college which room of her house was the addition (she claimed to have ghosts in her house...apparently the ghosts went every where but the addition). She had never told me which room was either.

anyhoo, the thing is I think there are too many people that are willing to believe everything. I.e. I can sit here and make up a horoscope for anyone on here that says "Tomorrow will be bright and sunny for you..." and either you'll have a good day or the sun will shine all day. In either case, I was right, but the circumstances could be different.

Ditto. I don't believe in ESP, but I love reading about it.

I do believe in intuition, and I think some people have it to a spooky degree, but I don't believe that intuition and ESP are the same thing. I think some people are just more in tune with their surroundings and with themselves, and so they can come off as seeming to possess ESP (or other unique powers). Likewise, I know a lot of people who are just that good at reading other people and situations that they can make it seem that they can read your mind or predict the future. (I can occasionally pull it off myself -- I'm pretty good at cold-reading.)

If ESP does exist, I think children are probably more attuned to it than adults, because as a child you haven't yet learned to turn off the part of your brain that picks up on extra-sensory things, and because your intuition is a lot more free-flowing -- all sorts of crazy ideas can seem possible to children and they don't immediately dismiss things just because they can't explain them.

I don't know really. When I was about 10 (ish), there was a period for a good couple of weeks where every time the family would sit down to dinner, I would have to do a mental "roll call" to ensure that everyone was there. Because, I had an unshakable feeling that someone was missing from the table. I would count heads, check names, and everyone would be there...but someone seemed to be missing.

I never had those feelings again when our Mom broke the news to us, that she was pregnant with who would be my youngest sister.

Ghosts don't like me. I know, I've tried. I've been to the Amber White bridge at midnight, I've been to the ruins of the Richardsville TB hospital, I've been to the Waverly Hills Sanitarium, the Sexton House in Russellville.......nothing.

They don't like me, I tell ya!

You're mad! I would not set foot in those places, no way, no how. I don't have to go to 'haunted places' to have trouble.

As for people having an extra sense, I believe we would have to, to an extent. What about all the stories of animals sensing natural disasters before they happen? Earthquakes, tsunamis, even bad storms before a tornado has cows acting odd. Or how animals seem to sense a bad person?
We are animals, though we've buried most of our natural instincts behind a civilized facade, there's still violence and war so not all of the natural urge is gone. It would stand to reason that we could do the same thing if we pay attention.

When was the last time you were creeped out by a person that had nothing outwardly wrong with them? Did you listen to that feeling or ignore it to find out later it was right?

I definitely believe in ESP, because I "talk to dead people", meaning that for some reason I know when some family members (or pets) have died, because they visit me in my dreams.

It's rather freaky, and even my husband, who is almost totally convinced that ESP doesn't exist, has managed to come to terms with the apparent fact that I know when people have died, hours or even days before we receive word.

The best example was when I was undergoing a hysterectomy in August of 2002, and awoke from the anesthesia with the announcement that my father had died, and that he, his deceased brother, and my grandmother (dead for close to 20 years) had "visited" me. It freaked out the hospital staff, and they couldn't wait to tell my husband that I'd had a bad reaction to the anesthesia, and then were totally spooked because my mom had called while I was on the operating table to tell him/us that my dad had just died unexpectedly.

My parents started to think I was "strange" when I was in kindergarten, and insisted that I remembered a certain great aunt, and "proved" it by describing her viewing and funeral, and the wake afterwards at another relative's house in minute detail (including the weather, the furniture, the location of the house, what my parents had worn, and the food). The only problem was that she'd died before I was born.

I was tested in college by my Psychobiology professor to see if I was clairvoyant, because I seemed to him to have a talent for predicting car accidents, but the results were, IMO, inconclusive. I answered everything wrong, which was "statistically impossible", so the conclusion was that I was clairvoyant, but resisted it! By that time I had totally stopped using Tarot cards and Ouija boards, because the "answers" had frightened me to death.
It's not something you should mess with.

yes i belive in esp, about 5 years ago , i woke up at 4 am and just couldnt sleep ,i just knew something was wrong , the kids were fine but i couldnt shake the feeling. i feel back to sleep and was woken by the phone ringing at 7.30 am , my SO picked the phone up and i just knew my nan had passed away , i dont know how but i did , she died early hours of the morning at 4 am. it was scary. then when mothers just know something is wrong , i was pregnant with my second daughter and just didnt feel right about the pregnancy , kept having dreams i was going to bleed out , etc.. i went into prem labour at 6 1/2 months pregnant , i did lose a lot of blood , they nearly lost me and my daughter , but thankfully were both fine now.

Do those Ouija boards really work? I can't even watch horror movies. I get nightmares. I get scared so easily. Sometimes I wish I wasn't such a wuss.

DO NOT USE ONE! or encourage anyone else to. Groups that have to help people deal with what these things have caused know the trouble they can bring.
I have been a long time lurker (6? 7? years) around http://theshadowlands.net/ghost/ forum. When I found the site many years ago it actually helped me feel a little relieved that shadow figures are not that uncommon and that nothing in my house was going to hurt me... at least not seriously.
Having lurked on that forum for years I have seen many many people post about having problems after using a ouija board. While some people can safely use them and other occult tools, most are trained or at least know what they're doing.

i have been to TB hospital, a old prision in WVA, dont remember the name anymore, and a few places here in ohio. the worset i ever got was bug bites.

however, everyone in my family used to hate my grandmothers old house, they all have stories of stuff happing,

Trust me...I would never use one, but just wondered if they do really work! It's just a gameboard, isn't it? Or at least I thought so...lol If it's so bad, why do they sell them where anyone can buy them?

Well... that's kind of hard to answer, maybe.
It can just be a game or it can be more. Originally it wasn't designed as a game though, you'd have to look into spiritualism at the time, how it was viewed to sort of see how it evolved into a toy/game to entertain people.
I believe a lot of it is intent, if everyone is set on looking for trouble and letting it in (asking proof something is there)... well. IMO that is honestly as bad as leaving your door wide open in a very bad neighborhood and not having a lock to close it with when you want to.

Lots of harmful things are easy to acquire, how one uses it cannot be blamed on the ones manufacturing or selling it.

The problem with a Ouija board is that it's uncontrolled. Any spirit can come through. You are not protected whatsoever. And not all spirits have your best interests in mind. No they can't physically hurt you. But they can make a nuisance and otherwise mess with your head.

The best thing to do if you wish to contact a spirit you know is to see a medium.

I'm going to disagree with you there, I had something very forcefully yank my feet out from under me on the stairs. Why is it always the stairs? But yes, aside from that time it was mostly just a nuisance. There is MUCH worse you don't want the attention of.

lol. Well just don't piss off anyone and maybe the spirits won't try to kill you. Yeah they can try to trip you or move objects. But it will always look like an accident.

A few years back we had a guy at work that developed cancer and died. A few months after his death I was doing my normal routine and everything kept falling. I finally stopped, yelled his name and told him I acknowledge his presence but he's gotta stop.. Didn't make a mistake the whole rest of the day...lol. He kept turning my radio off too. He hated rock.

I believe in it, because I constantly have episodes. I have a deep connection with my daughter, and we often communicate to the point when one knows to call the other. When she was 2, she was staying with my parents while I was at work. I had this overwhelming urge to go to the ER. It was like I was being physically pulled there. I went, not knowing why, and met my parents going in the door. My baby had fallen and split her cheek open, requiring stitches. When we were all done, my mother realized that she had not had a chance to call me. When she asked who called me, my daughter said "I did." She was too young to use the phone.
I have frequent visits from friends that have passed, including the return of a ring I lost at one of my best friend's funeral. 2 years later and half a continent away this ring just showed up on my dresser. I had moved to Kansas City from Jacksonville, NC and there was no way this ring was stuck anywhere. It had been left on a sink in a tiny town in SC.
